Insurance run on the 2nd blooper was big! Let's see if Marshall can make it hold up!

Why not bring Chapman back in for the 9th?? It makes NO sense. If we lose it will be 99% dustys fault.

Some chinks in the bullpen have developed in Milw.

Question: With Ondrusak coming into to clean up Marshall's mess AND how most managers (including Dusty) are stupid about keeping their closer out there until they've completely screwed things up, could that be saying something about how long Marshall will hold that role?
He's never been a closer before and has been best as a set-up man. Meanwhile, both Chapman and Ondrusak have been lights out and pretty much untouchable this year. With the Reds having the talent they have this year, I can't see them sticking with a guy who's really struggling at that role when he doesn't have a past body of work to go on.

Good win.
Cueto is awesome.
What stinks is Chapman is arguably the most dominant pitcher in baseball and he's stuck in a setup role. It's a shame. The guy is unhittable...when he's not walking hitters he's simply not going to allow anything...
How long can the Reds afford to have him pitching in situations that are not the most dire to the outcome of the game? I don't want it to happen but I'm almost rooting for Leake or Bailey to absolutely suck or for a rotation injury just to see him moved there. Once he's a starter, he's never coming back...

As long as dusty is managing.
And he will continue to go with Marshall as well as the closer.
Marshall is awesome, but his only problem is, when the hitter can foul off his breaking pitches he doesn't have another pitch that can get the k.

Marshall is gonna have struggles at times, because breaking ball closers can't afford to miss their spots and hang one over the middle. If your throwing gas, your mistakes aren't usually as pronounced.

You can't be too happy seeing this if you're Marshall. Way to build his confidence up Dusty.Heretic;1166153 wrote:Question: With Ondrusak coming into to clean up Marshall's mess AND how most managers (including Dusty) are stupid about keeping their closer out there until they've completely screwed things up, could that be saying something about how long Marshall will hold that role?

“You figure that’s enough,” Baker said. “You hate to take your closer out. But we needed that ball game.”

By the way, Milwaukee was 18-0 at home with Greinke pitching, before today.

I'm glad he did it. I hate when managers wait until a closer blows the game completely before taking him out.SportsAndLady;1166457 wrote:You can't be too happy seeing this if you're Marshall. Way to build his confidence up Dusty.

Hell I can't remember a single time Dusty took Coco out before blowing it. I'm surprised he did it yesterday.se-alum;1166547 wrote:I'm glad he did it. I hate when managers wait until a closer blows the game completely before taking him out.

Let's remember the good in this situtaion
last week Coco blew two saves including giving up 5 in the 9th at Oakland.
How I do not miss that crap.

I know there are alot of people that want him to be a closer, but much like Marshall, he's never been in that role, and it's a whole lot different than pitching in the 7th or 8th inning.Little Danny;1166594 wrote:Chapman = "Wild Thing" Ricky Vaughn (Major League).
