I think he was obviously safe, but I think the out call resulted from the pop-up slide with the tag on which may have helped Stubbs lose his balance a little bit and he adjusted with a weight shift, and I think then is when the ump called him out judging that his foot lost contact with the bag for just an instant! Look at when the ump made the demonstrative out signal.

While that could be true, it's still wrong because his glove was off Stubbs when his foot lost contact with the bag. Had he held contact with Stubbs I would agree, but either way it was a terrible call.
