Are there any? I was going to go to Jamaica with my girlfriend this summer, but we decided to go a little cheaper and go on another vacation later in the year. Is there such thing as an all inclusive resort in Florida? I haven't found anything while looking.

If not, is there anything that you guys would recommend? I'm partial to the Gulf Coast because I like the clear water aspect. My girlfriend would like to be close enough to make a driving trip to Orlando. Any suggestions?

What's a travel agent? Is that the same line of profession as switchboard operator or hay tradesman?

There are all-inclusive places in Florida, but they tend to be on the higher end (Club Med or more expensive) than what you would find in Jamaica. Florida will save you two plane tickets if you're driving there, but if you want reasonable prices for an all-inclusive you have to hit further south (and pay for the flights).

I googled it as well - yeah you'll get a ton of hits but nothing meaningful comes up because all-inclusive in Florida is rare, or at least rarer that you see outside the continental U.S. Certainly not as popular as they are Jamaica, Costa Rica, etc. A large percentage of the hits are toward travel sites that provide packages, reviews, or other about travel in general. The same travel guide that reviews an all-inclusive in Jamaica will also review a resort in Florida (whether it is all-inclusive or not).

The only two I know of are Club Med (and even then all-inclusive is a term of art) and Sandestin - neither of which I'm sure are still around. And if the OP wants a more economical choice, I don't know of any.

I thought this as well, but we booked our honeymoon thru her sister in laws sister who's a travel agent, and we got the total trip for ~1000 less than any online site was offering. I thought it was a worthless profession now too, but they still get better rates than you or I could.

for the OP.. you're not going to find cheaper vacation in the US. Even US territory's like Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands are more expensive than Jamaica, Dominican..etc..

Go to Cancun, get drunk and rent a moped. Its crazy fun.

When they pull you over and threaten you with their Mexican prison they are only looking for a $20 spot.

I've been on the fence about a travel agent. I went to Vegas with a few friends and one of them tried to hook us up with a travel agent. The travel agent told us that we wouldn't find anything less than what she found and we were finding the entire package for $200-300 less than her. Since then I've kind of felt like they are worthless, but I'm probably wrong.

Even if it's not all inclusive, is there anything you guys recommend on the Gulf Coast?

I use a travel agent anytime we go on a cruise or do an all inclusive in the Caribbean or Mexico. I use them to compare prices and usually the agent we use gets me a much better price. This summer me, my wife and two kids are going to an all-inclusive in Mexico for 5 nights and the price she got us is about $500 cheaper than I could find online.

I stayed at The Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando last summer. Pretty nice place, fairly pricey, and I am sure you can find a better deal elsewhere, but the place is nice.

Check out punta mita in Mexico it was amazing and had 3-4 resorts in the area and was amazing.
