I work for a company. The company pays me X amount of dollars to do scientific research on specific topics. If I spent my time getting paid by them to do religious research then my job could be in jeopardy would it not?

Now, if I worked for a company like Answers in Genesis, then I could do scientific religious research and publish it.

Religion is essentially the path to figure out if God does or doesn't exist. Those who look to religion obviously feel that God does exist.

So by saying that religion is fraud, you're saying that the overall purpose behind it is fraud are you not? Which leads me to believe that you feel Hoax=religion, so Hoax=God. Religion doesn't have to be organized, so the evil cooperations that chap your ass so bad are not the only way to find God.

Except I'm sure sleeper is referring to the main religions like Christianity and Islam. Of which the holy books have been written and rewritten by the same evil corporations (if we're calling the churches that) so when people say "oh well I don't follow the church just the Bible" it sort of makes no sense. Sure you can disagree with the current church policies and such but the Bible itself is a reflection of their influences on it.

Again, no one with a brain will tell you 100% there is not a deity, they will be agnostic atheists like Dawkins or Degrasse Tyson or Hitchens who have looked critically at the evidence and deduced that it's highly unlikely there is one. I can tell you with almost certainty that a deity would not be the god of the Bible or Quran or Torah. Those were made up by men.

And "well you can't prove for certain that there isn't a god" is not a very good argument. It's true but it's irrelevant to the discussion of whether the god of the Bible or whatever particular group we're talking about exists or is likely to.

I suggest actually reading some of the stuff that the real scientists who work with/for AiG put out. Astrophysicists, geologists, biologists, geophysicists, etc all work for/with them.

People with PhDs in those fields and who are much smarter than everyone posting on this thread.

Organized religion is rooted in good but breeds intolerance and violence. Especially when you encounter the extremists of people's respective religions. Jihads, burning down abortion clinics, etc.

A good example: Remember the Scorcese movie The Last Temptation of Christ with Willem Dafoe? Incredibily controversial movie because it depicted Jesus as being in conflict with dealing with his humanism (a perfectly reasonable conclusion since Jesus WAS in fact human as well as God). The result? Riots, banning, and in France people were actually injured and killed. Over a freaking movie because the religious nutjobs didn't care for their beliefs being questioned. Saw the same thing to a lesser degree years later with The Da Vinci Code.

Nothing in this world should be above questioning.....not scientific fact nor religious faith. You don't see scientists burning down churches because people believe in creationism now. Religion is fine IMO as a means for people to mentally and emotionally overcome the struggles in their lives and be able to feel more comfortable with the idea of death. Organized Religion however has done a lot of harm in this world/society for all of the good it proclaims to do.

Please quote where I said "the most deadly wars". War is war no matter the scale. But if you do want an extreme example, the holocaust was certainly an all-time atrocious act that had roots (before you say it, not completely rooted just had roots) in oppression of a specific race/religion.
