According to 97.1TheFan Thomas will be at OSU next year. I think it is a very good move.

Very nice, and smart move IMO. I think this definately makes OSU a top 10 team next year.

Love this quote:
"We have a great team returning next season and I want to be a part of another championship run," Thomas said. "My family, my coaches and I looked at my future as a professional but I love being a Buckeye and want to continue my education and development as a player and as a person at Ohio State."

Probably would have been a first round pick so it was probably a tough decision..a lot tougher than he probably thought it would be about 2 months ago. But definitely the right move, he can make himself a lottery pick with another good year.

People may think I am crazy, but I think OSU could be as good or better next year now that Thomas is returning. I feel Williams will fill the middle just fine and he is a defensive shot blocking presence in the middle. The other frosh like Thompson and Scott will only be better with the years experience. Ross is the xfactor. Very talented, but needs to learn to play hard, play defense. Of course you have Craft and Smith Jr. as well.osu45804;1138695 wrote:Love this quote:

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think he sees the opportunity of being "the man' next season with Sully gone. Did he improve his game or what? He didn't fall victim of a sophomore slump like others. We are going to have another darn good team again.

[INDENT]"Deshaun, his family and our coaching staff have spent the last week evaluating his future," Matta said. "Deshaun determined he wants to remain a Buckeye. We are looking forward to building on the success our team enjoyed in 2011-12 with Deshaun playing a significant role next year."

Good news. He really improved from last year and another good year like this one and he is a lottery pick.

I absolutely agree with this. They won't be so one dimensional next year and I expect them to play more up tempo ball. Amir Williams will dramatically improve this offseason and you add the bench guys and a years development and OSU is a contender once again.centralbucksfan;1138703 wrote:People may think I am crazy, but I think OSU could be as good or better next year now that Thomas is returning. Anyone know who the recruits are that Matta has realistic shots at?

For next year there are really only three or four guys left that are worth it. And Tony Parker (6'9") is really the only one we have a shot at. And that would be a stretch. For the class of 2013 we only have one guy so far. Matta needs to do some major work on 2013 and get a good class if we want to maintain the level we are competing at right now. With our recent rise to the elite level; multiple final fours, the lottery picks (Oden, Turner, Conley), and domination of the Big Ten, I would expect Matta to have an easier time pulling in some of the top 5 guys. In one of the next few classes he needs to get another duo like Oden-Conley, Wall-Cousins, or Davis-Gilchrist to really secure the future of the team for the next few years. But that's probably wishful thinking.thedynasty1998;1138853 wrote:I absolutely agree with this. They won't be so one dimensional next year and I expect them to play more up tempo ball.
