i wonder if any other school in the sec outside of vanderbilt would have taken this stance? i think saban and miles might be able to run a prostitution ring in their respective offices at this point and be able to keep their jobsdlazz;1141229 wrote:They're overreacting.

Anything he did other than hiring his mistress was survivable. Way too much potential liability.dlazz;1141229 wrote:They're overreacting.

Also Jeff Long is putting a clown suit on Gene Smith. This is how you run a presser.

Sucks for Arkansas.
Read earlier that they have made the biggest 2 year gain in revenue since Forbes started tracking it. Also had moved up into the top 10 for football revenue.

This. He could have hired her, or he could have had an affair with her, and survived professionally (dealing with Mrs Petrino is altogether a different matter :rolleyesqueencitybuckeye;1141259 wrote:Anything he did other that hiring his mistress was survivable. Way too much potential liability.
Most companies (including mine) will not tolerate a manager (male or female) boinking a female subordinate due to the inevitable lawsuit (or, more likely in an academic environment. the quiet behind-the-scenes payoff) when:
- a/the female subordinate gets dumped,
- b/she gets promoted over a co-worker, deservedly or not;
- c/when one of her co-workers is fired, downsized, gets an unfavorable review or is disciplined.

Not only this, but he hired hired over 159 other applicants for the job. This isn't a private sector job where the boss has a little more free reign to do as he wishes --- this is a position involving taxpayer $$$.Cat Food Flambe';1141294 wrote:This. He was doomed the moment he did both - and it is not an over-reaction on the university's part.

I hope the mountains crumbled, the seas roared and fireworks shout out of this woman's ass when Bobby's was boinking her for it to be worth losing everything.

Yeah. He is screwed. Not only did he lose his job, but I am sure Mrs. Petrino is going to take him to the cleaners when she inevitably divorces him. This episode is going to set him back many many millions of dollars in divorce costs and lost income from Arkansas.Little Danny;1141376 wrote:Not only this, but he hired hired over 159 other applicants for the job. He will get another job somewhere at some point, but it won't be at a high profile school anytime soon with the amount of bridges he has burned by his unethical behavior everywhere he has been.
Getting that job at least explains why she was sleeping with him. Unless she has a thing for guys likely as old as her father, in which case they deserve eachother because both she and Petrino are off their rocker.

This was inevitable, for reasons others stated above, but also because Petrino already had a checkered past. Arkansas had no other choice.
