Damn makes you wonder how dominant that bullpen could be with good masset out there..and a healthy madsen, wow

Didn't watch but following the box score it sounded like a perfect first game..cueto 7 strong, Chapman no baserunners 2 k's, marshall no baserunners 2 k's.

Bruce is gonna have a monster year I've been saying that since the end of last season

No Bronson is terrible. Btw why is he the #3 starter? Needs to be 5th at least if not down in Louisville

It was a very, very solid effort all around.

Chapman and Marshall were flat out disgustingly, filthy. The 90 mph slide piece that Chapman threw to Reyes was completely unhittable. Reyes' reaction was exactly that too.

"We've always done it that way" is not really a good justification IMO

It's what the Reds and MLB wants/does. That's all the justification you need.

Well homer is 4th. He doesn't even deserve a spot in the rotation

Good start for the Reds. I'm already getting the shakes about Mesoraco being up here. This was just one game, but I really hope Dusty doesn't make him ride the pine all season long. He'd be better off in Louisville playing everyday

Leake should be ahead of both. But who do you play instead I guess. I'd still have Homer in over Bronson. His WAR isn't below 0

Ok. Yeah true. MLB and Selig know exactly what they are doing. Personally I think the best move they have ever done was schedule the start of the season in Japan where the games happen before 8 am and nobody can watch. The decision to play real baseball and then have Oakland and Seattle come back and play more spring training games is also a genius move.

So you do think that was a good move by MLB and Selig to start off the season the way they did? It doesn't really make that much sense to me either...

It has nothing to do wiht dissenting opinions...moreso harping on something that isn't a big deal. It's like, if Reyes would have hit a solo HR today on the 1st pitch...everyone knows Reyes jumps on the first pitch, how could Cueto throw a lame fastball on the 1st pitch when he knows Reyes will knock it out?! How?! How could he do this?! The logic makes no sense!!!

That is exactly what you two are doing right now. They give a day off in case the game is rained out. It makes perfect sense.

I guess I'm just supposed to agree with people whenever they have an opinion on something...just saying it doesnt make sense to "start" the season in Japan where it doesn't even seem like anyone cares about it/or can watch it and then those teams come back and play spring training games again. Why does that make sense?

The Japan thing is completely irrelevant to this lol Just because a commissioner makes one poor decision, that has no effect on his other decisions. If that's the case, every President the US has ever had was a terrible president, because they've all made at least one terrible decision.

Yeah....Baseball!!!

Smartly worked the count early on Buehrle.

About everyone contributed on offense.

Pitching phenomenal.

One thing as I want to minimize my bitching.....if Bronson or especially Homer are sucking I will be livid until Chapman is starting. "Chapman will be a starter next year" "Chapman was far and away the best starting pitcher in spring training" "Bray is not ready to pitch to lefties late in the game"

Dusty not starting Chapman and his reasonings is HOF Dusty.

Rolen's error was so bad you just had to laugh.

Rolen's error was bad. But he made up for it with some solid plays in the field today.

I'm just not ever going to be worried about Rolen on defense. Offensively he doubled and scored, hit a line drive out where it was pitched with bases loaded and took one for the team. His swing looked good....if he does well the Reds will be tough to handle.

I really think this season will hinge on how the 3-5 starters perform. All other facets of the game look solid.
