It's clear from a number of his posts on both sites that he feels his service does indeed give him a pass.

Say that in my hometown and you'll probably get shot! A lot of people do think that.

However, it doesn't apply here and probably should not have been introduced to the thread.

Instead of banning people from this site, it's a shame we can't just BANISH them to that other site forever

First off, give me a break. Now, I'm all for taking the token black guy jokes here and there. But when it becomes a platform for hate, ignorance, and racism, I'm out. I understand that everyone on here hasn't had the most frequent interaction with people outside of their own race. I get that, and I don't even knock it. What I DO knock, Belly, since this is to you in particular, is your obvious lack of self education, and then pawning it off on the "everyone's a little racist" excuse.

Again, delete this if you want, or lock it, or what have you. But, it would be irresponsible of me not to say what I felt, as an intelligent black man, called out by a less than intelligent racist.
I read somewhere or seen on T.V. that a racist person usually has an average I.Q. of 79, with that being said I wouldn't sweat it upper! I'm sure most people on here know and realize that you're the better man, obvious how you handle the situation.

No worries, Upper. I'd say this thread was necessary and I agree with you 100%.

Very legit gripe, Upper. There's no place for that in this time and age. It's all about moving forward...too bad there's more than a few delusional supremacists in this world who won't ever 'get it'.

I was in the military, all I ask for is respect both ways. We are not superheros, just doing our job!

People that use the Military for that purpose should not get that respect.

Belly is out of line I've voiced that. If you volunteer to leave he should be forced out via a fourth rule that shouldn't be a rule it should be common f-ing sense.

4 dumbass bigotry will not be tolerated.

Anyone that has any pride from serving would not use it for personal gain(or pass).
Most never even bring up the service to the great USA unless asked.

That is correct, I just didn't like the way it was implied here. Personally I had seen Belly talk about the military before over on JJ but in most of the arguments it seemed that someone would bring it up first about Vietnam to get a rise out of him then it would sputter from there with him. People get too worked up over this serious business though, I'll tell ya that!! Belly could get out of line though there is no doubt about it!

Loving this thread, it was much needed.
Belly's little rant he had the other day crossed the line, he is just a tool now that he can say anything.

The question is, is it better to let him post that garbage or let him post it and roast him after he posts it?

I would argue that in most instances (other than belly) let 'em post & roast

However, in belly's case, it's done so just to piss people off, not once, not ten times...too many to enumerate.

I think he's gotta go. Period.

Cuz I'm not willing to trade a poster who's posts are well thought out and intelligent vs. the crap belly posts.

First of all ... Upper I admire you for standing up for yourself and shedding light on an important issue. Second, while I personally took a lot of issue to some of Belly's recent rants, I'm not sure banning him is the answer.

I admit I'm guilty of this myself, but the best way to show someone that what he/she is saying is not tolerated, is to ignore it. That's right, don't quote, don't comment, don't even click on any of Belly's or anyone else who chooses ignorance over a willingness to recognize that this is America and we come in all shapes, sizes, races, sexual orientations, and creeds. (Sorry to get a little hokey there).

I do think the world can get a little to PC, but there is a line, and we can show where we stand.

That said, Justincredible and fellow mods, I completely understand if you decide to ban anyone who publicly attacks another member.

Belly's one of those people who loves to be controversial in his own way. Some people troll other people or certain sports teams; he goes more sociological and makes comments I'd consider in poor taste under the guise that people of other cultures or beliefs have some sort of inferiority to him. The thread in question was a perfect example of that with him not just advocating "Merry Christmas" as the only holiday greeting for him, but also making demeaning, insulting comments to those who don't have his personal beliefs.

The even more sad thing is that while a lot of people of trashed Belly for things he's said, I not only can't remember Upper saying anything derogatory about him specifically or anyone on this site (or the old Huddle). Dude comes off as one of the most nice, respectful people I've ever e-met. I have no idea why, other than a race and religion issue, Belly would specifically call him out with some comparison of bashing a belief system as opposed to towards musical lyrics being non-PC.

Just stupid shit that annoys me. "Yeah, some people of other races and cultures say and do stuff I don't like, so it's cool if I bash them as being inferior to mine!" I don't like banning people, as let's face it, if we do that to Belly for what he said, the door'd be open to ban a LOT of people for things they say. Well, to be technical, there are people I'D LOVE to ban, but I agree with the stance Justin and other mods have told me about that. Let's face it, for every dude that'd get banned due to being an utter ass, there would be two that got banned for one moment of getting heated and snapping on someone.

If anything, it'd be nice if Belly had conscience enough to apologize to Upper for referring to his religion as "ragheads" and then trying to use the language used in rap albums (you know, Upper = black and many rappers = black, so obviously there's an DIRECT connection between him and them....at least if you're bigoted) as a way to justify his words.
