Question. What is the big appeal of Twitter for the every day person? Do you guys who use it have a lot of friends who also use it? Most of my friends don't use it and I don't generally care what celebrities say so it never really appealed to me. I have tried to talk to a couple celebs and the only person who has replied to any of my tweets is Ethan Suplee. A lot of celebrities endorse Twitter big time but I'm sure they all reply to each other. I guess I just don't get why it's such a big deal. I would have said this in one of the other threads about Twitter but they all seem to be closed.

I used Twitter quite a bit, but I don't use it to follow any celebrities (other than a select few pro athletes), I love the up to the minute information available on Twitter.

Twitter is great because it is a constant stream of up-to-date information. If you are a sports fan and not on twitter you are doing it wrong.

I don't tweet that much. I get all of my sports and entertainment news on there though. It really is the fastest way to hear the latest stuff. Especially sports.

IF you get Breaking News on TV, Twitter Broke it about 5 hours beforehand.

Its the best, especially for sports and news, becasuse journalists can list what they are hearing and think in an informal way. They can preface that they may be wrong, thus going to Twitter and not releasing the news via a differnet outlet. You get truer opinions and information before the info has to go through checks and more checks before it hits the wire.

This!

Twitter IS breaking news. If you're hearing it from a news channel / paper, then the news has probably already been broken for a good 20 min via Twitter.

I love twitter. can get all of the news you want on one "channel". Like others have said, its on twitter before television or the radio. I use twitter for the social aspect as well, but I wouldnt say a whole lot.

Well I'm ok with it then. I was thinking Twitter was so popular because people wanted to keep up with what celebrities were saying and doing. Has anyone ever tried tweeting to a celeb?

I agree, that people only on it to follow celebs is pointless, but as others have said, for news and info gathering purposes, particularly with sports, it's hard not to have one. I don't yet but am damn close to caving in.

I follow some celebrities as well. I get a good chuckle out of fake accounts as well. Fake Jay Cutler and Fake Bill Walton are both hysterical.

also, unless you're on twitter... you can't mock it. I used to be one of those people who assumed it was retarded. It is not. It is awesome. I've never been more wrong about anything. Ever.

I also love that I go on Twitter and immediately am flooded with messages about a certian game or movie on TV. I would probably not find it or watch it, but then people blow up the timeline so I switch it on. Mostly with close sports games. Thats a great feature. Free advertising so I dont have to use the guide and check everything.

I use it but I only follow Tweety Bird, the Twighlight cast, model Twiggy, local band Twenty One Pilots, and airline TWA. I used to follow Two and a Half Men, but it sucks now.

My wife was the same way. She's on it now and sees the value.

I got a twitter account and then stopped paying attention after about two weeks.

I still think it's a worthless piece of crap.

For serious, though, I've had a lot of interaction with Reds players on twitter. I'm also followed by my favorite musician. Like a boss.
