But seriously, both instances are equally as bad. How bad is it? I think that depends on a persons morality. Some people are ok as long as it is 2 consenting adults, others dislike the whole situation because of the power disparity.
But to differentiate the punishment/outrage because of the sex difference is wrong.

Sure it is plausible. But that's your morality (that it is okay if the student consents). However, there are people that believe it is wrong no matter what.
