My parent past away years ago there was some items that I did not get or find as a keepsake that I wish I would have gotten.</SPAN>

For me it was my mom Cook book. She was a great cook and keep OK notes for her recipes. I have been able to duplicate some but other great dishes will be lost for ever, after her death the Cook Book was missing and never to be found. </SPAN>

What one item do you wish you could get before or after your parents passing? </SPAN>
Or did you get it and what was that item? </SPAN>

All of my dads tools. He's saved me so much money by borrowing tools from him instead of buying them myself.

My moms clothes wardrobe. Likely one of the least expensive furniture items they have but is the only thing I care about. My brothers and sister in laws are vultures. They're already circling my parents business, property, cars, jewelry etc. Makes me sick.

I'm an only child. I imagine I will get whatever I want. I've never been able to understand seemingly rational people who fight over what their parents leave them. I have family members who got along great until someone died and then they weren't able to work it out and no longer speak to each other. I think they even expect me to take sides.

My Grandma is starting to get up there in age, and I've been asking her for a few years now if she would take some time and put together a cook book for me of all her recipes. My Grandma is an AMAZING cook; if not the best, certainly the 2nd best I know of.

Idk why, but I can't get her to do this :-(

If my parents leave me money, that means they didn't enjoys certain things in life, that only money can buy. The money I make in this life belongs to me and my wife. I'd like to travel and do nice things. I'll leave behind a house and some other things to my kids. They want money that bad, they can sell it all for me! :)

Or get a fucking job and make their own money.

I had an ex who used to sit around with her parents and brother and sister and they would argue about who got what when their parents died. (and they didn't have a lot) If my kids do that, I'm leaving everything to charity.

My mom actually has a lot of Michigan football memorabilia that she's collected over the years. I would like to have that for me. The only other thing would be Boyd's Bears collection only because they meant A LOT to her, and I'd want to make sure they were taken care of for her sake.

My parents have a 1966 (i think) fastback mustang.

It was found and purchased from an old barn where it sat for 30+ years in California a few years ago by my grandpa, then restored and driven to Ohio, where it now sits in my parents garage.

Me want.

My parents house. I'm gonna bulldoze it and put a huge (like 20 feet tall) fence around their land. They love the idea.

Note: their neighbor is a huge asshole. And that fence would really piss him off.

I was fortunate in that respect when my mom passed.My brother and I did not fight about stuff as we have 7 year between us so we had different keepsakes and different tastes,worked out smooth. On the plus side my mom was a scrapbooker and made a bunch of scrap books of every freakin thing!This means any time I want a walk down memory lane,just crack a scrap book!
I do see vultures circling in some circles though...Sad,sick,twisted folks they are.

Do it with her. Sit with her and hear the stories (and write them down!) about the recipes. I've been lucky enough to have the time to do this with my grandma, and I am sllllooowwwwllllyyyyy working on compiling them. I'm the only other one who knows a lot of her recipes because most of my family isn't into cooking/baking like I am, but I know some day they may want them. Eventually, they'll all be in a book for my family with the stories and tips my grandma has always told me.

They were great parents that left many things. Lived in the same house all of my childhood and my parents lived there until they passed away, I was 45. Tons of things "stuff" wise. But, having a full house of stuff of my own family... does no allow one to keep much.

I did keep a Dutch boy paint statue that my parents had in their hardware store. When I look at that, it reminds me of my parents, and all of the memories of working in that store with them... priceless. It resides in my basement and I see it regularly, and it always brings back great memories.
