I'm a little surprised by this move. He was projected by some mocks to go #1 overall and was probably a lock to go top 10.

Dumb move by locker. He was projected to be the #1 QB (by some) there is no way to improve that. Such a huge risk. I hope it works out.

Good move IMO, don't think he was quite ready.

He should have asked Sam Bradford for advice first.

I'm not sure he's ready either, but this decision is almost guaranteed to cost him millions of dollars with the rookie pay scale coming.

Bradford was only a Soph. last year wasn't he? What kind of advice could he get from him?Keebler wrote: He should have asked Sam Bradford for advice first.

Can't fault a kid for returning to college. If he enjoys college and wants to stay, good for him. He'll make his money in the NFL when the time comes, no need to rush it if he feels like he's not ready.

3rd year Soph. Could have left. Decided to stay to win a national championship. Projected Top 5 draft pick in draft. Stays. Gets hurt. Loses draft stock like crazy.the_system wrote:Bradford was only a Soph. last year wasn't he? What do you think Sam would have told Jake to do?

He's going to lose a ton of money with the rookie salary cap.
This almost assures Jimmy Clausen will go #1 overall.

I agree of the first part. He's leaving A LOT of money on the table by coming back. But if he'd rather be more prepared, instead of loaded, good for him.sjmvsfscs08 wrote: He's going to lose a ton of money with the rookie salary cap.

I think I'd his shoulder heals, he can improve his draft stock back to where it was.Keebler wrote:3rd year Soph. Could have left. Decided to stay to win a national championship. Doubtful. He was projected #1 right with Stafford. I don't think he would be #1 in this draft even if his shoulder was fine.elbuckeye28 wrote: I think I'd his shoulder heals, he can improve his draft stock back to where it was.

The only reason I can think of this being a bad decision is if the rookie salary scale goes down a lot. I personally don't get all the hype about this kid being a possible #1. I just havn't seen enough. I personally think he's borderline 1st round.

Locker was drafted by the Angels this summer I think. . . 10th round I think. He's got plenty of options. . . as a college football fan. . . I'm ecstatic that he stayed.

Good descision--I think he can get better.
His NFL prospects are highly overrated anyways. Talented kid but I don't understand how anyone wants to pick him 1st overall.

This. If you're a junior that's projected anywhere in the first round, coming out this year would be wise.Mulva wrote: I'm not sure he's ready either, but this decision is almost guaranteed to cost him millions of dollars with the rookie pay scale coming.

He will not go #1 overall, but it does bode well for Clausen being the first QB taken.

Depending on who gets the #1 pick, Clausen could be taken 1st.ccrunner609 wrote:sjmvsfscs08 wrote:This almost assures Jimmy Clausen will go #1 overall.
