Yes. I was at the game, and Nigel's a man amongst boys. That being said, the big kid from Springfield, Logan Weimer, more than held his own against Hayes, scoring a couple crucial baskets down the stretch. One more second, and Whitmer's season is finished, but it's all about surviving and advancing-and they did.

Clock operator screwed them. The 3 that Springfield hit to pull them within 2 came at 23 seconds left and they called a timeout, but the clock kept running down to 18.3, then when they put the ball back in play it was at 17.8. Would have made a huge difference. That being said, they wasted a lot of time fouling Hayes, letting him bring the ball all the way down the court for a timeout (7 seconds) and then after the timeout having to chase him around in the backcourt for another 4 or 5 seconds. Wasn't too impressed with Joplin's strategy.

I'm surprised the refs didn't have him put more time on the clock. In instances like this, usually one of the three refs are looking at the clock, 'cause this happens quite often in hectic games. Also, I agree with you about Joplin, and if Whitmer is going to go on any kind of run, they better get their foul shooting in order. Up by 13 with 2:40, and then shoot 2-8 from the line to let Springfield back in it. Not good.

I'd imagine Wiggins is probably committing to FSU soon

Not 2013, but Carolina just got a commitment from 2014 5-star wing Justin Jackson out of Texas. He joins 5-star PG Joel Berry in the 2014 class for the Tar Heels. Still very early, but next year's class is looking very good for Carolina right now.

5-star SG Rashad Vaughn (2014) and, of course, Andrew Wiggins will be visiting Chapel Hill this Saturday for the Duke game.

He's supposedly still considering KU, UK, FSU, and UNC. I think he's probably going to FSU because of the family factor, and he's so talented that it doesn't really matter where he goes, but we'll see. The atmosphere in Chapel Hill on Saturday will be nuts. Maybe it can sway him.

I've said it all year long Wiggins is in a class of his own. Jabari Parker is great. Julius Randle is great. The Harrison twins are great. The whole class is loaded. With that said.

For all of us who are fans of the sport, despite our own allegiances...please Andrew Wiggins...ANYWHERE but FSU. Seriously, we might have a once or twice in a decade player become pedestrian and fighting an uphill battle. Even moreso than Kevin Durant did at Texas, even though he had a decent team around him.

Most UK fans would call this heresy, but if it isn't Kentucky, I'd rather it be Kansas or North Carolina...

Going to FSU may make things hard on him during his one year in college, but in the grand scheme of things, I don't think it would hurt him that much, if at all. It really just depends on what he wants his one year in college to be. If he goes to any of the other three places, he could potentially lead a team to a national championship. That just isn't happening at FSU. I've read several places that Wiggins doesn't really enjoy the spotlight. If that's truly how he is, then maybe he would be content at FSU. I'm with you, though, Azu. Why not go to a top program, be the man, and then make the jump to the league, rather than be a part of a team that has no legitimate shot at winning a title?

I feel he's the #1 guy regardless of what he does in college. However, I'd almost guarantee that if he were to go to a typical blue blood, barring an injury, his stock will remain at the top even if his stats aren't amazing.

Look at Shabazz Muhammad. From all accounts, he's having a pretty good season statistically at UCLA. However, how often had you heard about him? He's kind of faded into oblivion out West. The same may happen to Wiggins at FSU, especially given there will be so many other impact Freshman coming in.

Shabazz was a clear top 3 pick before the year. In almost all mock drafts, he's out of the top 5. Would he be out of the top 5 at UK? It's not just UK either. If Wiggins is going to go somewhere to "be the man", go to a smaller school with a solid team and see if he can really make an impact. At FSU, he will be triple teamed and his teams will get throttled by both Duke and UNC.

If he wants to be "THE man," then going to Kentucky is not the place to be. The Wildcats are already bringing in one of the most heralded recruiting classes in history. He would be much better off to go where there aren't any big-time stars, but enough complimentary talent to win a title; and that would be Kansas or North Carolina.

With that said, I hope Leonard Hamilton can pull Bugs Bunny out of his hat.

As a fan of a team that will be in the field of serious title contenders next year but not in the running for Wiggins, I am thinking the opposite everyone else and hoping that he stays away from a team that already is in that category.

If Wiggins is really as good as Az advertises him to be, I cannot understand why Az would rather Wiggins go to Kansas or UNC over Florida State if he doesn't choose UK. Because, at a school like Kansas or UNC, where there are already several McDonald's All-Americans and elite talent, a player that damn good is probably going to propel his team to the front of the pack. I don't want the competition enjoying the fruits of a player that good. Again, that's assuming Andrew Wiggins really is Christ's son.

Haha.

Believe it or not, I'd rather see a group of absolutely loaded teams with great talent. As I said, I don't necessarily want Wiggins at KU or UNC, but given the choices and that his list is already narrowed down, anywhere but FSU.

IMO as a fan of the sport, if he's going to go to FSU, he might as well go play in Germany for a season.

You make a good point there. Haha. But if Germany really does have a shot at the kid, I hope they get him.

Florida State obviously isn't a high profile school, but they should bring back just about everyone from this year aside from Snaer, and they have a pretty decent recruiting class even without Wiggins. If they add him, they should be a top 15 team going into next year.

What's the latest on Randle? Is it basically down to Kentucky and Kansas?

Yeah I think so..he's kept it pretty hidden (aka, I don't really think he knows where he's going).

He did recently say he's 'pretty sure he's going to UK'

But who knows

Wow, so UNC and FSU have been eliminated? That surprises me. Not about FSU -- I didn't think they ever had a real shot -- but I really thought North Carolina provided a perfect scenario with the talent that would already be in place to surround him, yet Wiggins still being the clear star of the team. You could probably say the same for Kansas, but the Jayhawks will obviously lose a lot more than the Heels in the off-season with McLemore, Johnson and Withey all gone. UNC should bring back the majority of this year's talent.
