I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but that Duke team got an INCREDIBLE draw in the tourney, and I really think the only way Kansas is national title good this year is if they receive a similar draw...the reason for that is there are just so many title contending teams this year, that I don't think KU will be able to go through 2 or 3 of them.
The good thing about this team, however, is that in year's past, Kansas teams are usually loaded with talent and depth but no real go-to player(s). This year, they have two. The last time they had a go-to player was Mario Chalmers, and well...
I really like this "new" Kansas team because they have a dominant big man who can score from anywhere inside the 3 point line, and then they have a senior guard who will take the biggest shots and ****ing drill them. God damn I love me some Tyshawn.
It's going to be interesting.
No, I would agree that Duke certainly got some favorable match-ups and upsets go their way along the way to winning in 2010. With that said, the Blue Devils did end up having to go through third-seeded Baylor in Houston, which was basically like playing a tournament game against Arizona in the middle of the the Dust Bowl, and absolutely dismantled a Big East-champion West Virginia squad that had clearly outwitted supposedly unstoppable John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins-led Kentucky.
Anyway, I really like the chances of this Kansas team as well. And I agree that Taylor has taken his game to new heights. Similarly to Brian Zoubek in 2010, Tyshawn Taylor has transformed from a player fans seemingly loved to hate (not meaning you, Sports) and cast their shortcomings onto into perhaps the key to winning Banner No. 4 in Lawrence. Early in the year, all I heard was how Taylor was a walking turnover. Zoubek, before a monstrous mid-season game at Maryland that opened the eyes of Blue Devils fans and the rest of the nation, was pretty much viewed by many Duke followers as just a really tall dude who had been tragically born without hands. He then went on to become arguably the most integral piece of a championship puzzle that brought No. 4 to Durham.
As you said, the tournament will be very interesting -- and extremely exciting with so many capable teams vying for the ultimate prize.
