Seriously, I think the thing is based around how Timmay is a media sensation whose popularity is so far detached from his actual NFL ability that people are scared off.

Like, Jacksonville sucks at the QB position and is a horrible team, so in theory he'd be a perfect fit for them because he's popular in the state and no matter how much he sucks, one could argue that he'd still be better than a guy like Blaine Gabbert.

But they have a new GM and I think he knows that if he would sign him, that his career would be tied to him because in Florida, there would be huge pressure to start him immediately and keep him the starter to the degree that the GM's career would be tied to his performance. And I don't think any new GM who wants to succeed wants to risk having that albatross tied to them where their success is tied to the performance of an unconventional QB like Timmay.

The two fumbles against the Colts probably won't do anything to improve on that aspect, either.

Yeah, I expect Bernard Pierce to get a lot of carries and that isn't a bad thing in my eyes. The Broncos will be less focused on him and he is pretty good.

They were discussing this on Sirius XM this morning. It's not so much that most of these teams aren't willing to give Timmay a shot (likely backup) as much as they don't want the media circus that goes with it.

Yeah. I was surprised Jacksonville didn't give him a chance, but figured it had to be because in that state, the fanbase would take a Timmay or Bust attitude that would probably doom the new guy to failure.

This is true. They never feed him. Put too much on Flacco's arm and not enough on one of the best RBs in the game

This is one of those situations where they'll use this as a reason why, but he wasn't getting a lot of touches before.

The only people who think Flacco is a good QB are the baltimore ravens and their fans.

He's not bad but it just doesn't seem like he has progressed much.

His lack of consistency is what I notice the most. He's the kind of guy who will have a huge game and then go 9-22, 145 the next time out, while looking like a total idiot.

I just don't get why they trust him so much. You have one of the best backs in the league, get him the ball as much as possible, whether running or passing.

You also thought they wouldnt take any kind of hit when they had injuries. They did, big time. Barely even got into the playoffs. I said when Lewis went down they had too big of a lead in the division to lose it, but .500 ball from here on out was possible (they did just that). Luckily they got the Colts in the 1st round, who were kind of a fraud of a playoff team, or they probably get bounced last week.
BR1986FB;1363883 wrote:All joking aside, I do think the Rats have a shot in this. Historically, Manning isn't good in cold weather.

Such a myth. Peyton was bad because he had to keep playing the Pats in NE. We heard all the time he was a dome QB...well the Broncos played 1 game indoors this year. Manning is 6-2 if you take out playoff games (ie NE twice and NYJ in 2002)in cold weather (40 or below) and stats go up as well with.

Peyton career in cold weather:
292-453, 3553 yards, 23 TDs, 14 INT (64.5%, 7.8 ypa, 92.5 QB rating)

Peyton last 5 years in cold weather:
165-235, 2132 yards, 16 TDs, 9 INT (70.2%, 9.1 ypa, 105.1 QB rating)

He is one of the best, no matter the conditions. Plus, he hasnt lost to the Ravens...like...ever. I dont think he has lost to them since 2001.

Jim Caldwell wont change that either. Cause he is a dumbass lol
Rotinaj;1363949 wrote:He's not bad but it just doesn't seem like he has progressed much.
This. I really thought he could be better. Too bad, cause Baltimore mightve been in a few SB if he had progressed a bit better/faster.

I'm not sure I said they wouldn't take a hit at all but if someone can find the quote I will eat crow. The defense wasn't the problem through the bad stretch. The offense was pretty bad though. I do remember telling people that the D wouldn't go that far down hill to the people that said they would get killed every game for the rest of the season. The fact is that the D wasn't that great to begin with this season. I'm assuming it was the loss of Suggs for the first 6 games or whatever he was out.

I was probably a little hard on you, but you did kind of say they wouldnt play that bad and they would be fine. In reality, they squeaked in after playing .500 ball (which is pretty bad) but they definitely played as bad as the Houston game again.
bigdaddy2003;1303086 wrote:They lost to San Diego last season like 35 to 13 and still ended up in the AFC title game. I doubt they play that bad again. I guess we shall have to wait and see.
bigdaddy2003;1303201 wrote:I understand what you guys are saying but I'd be willing to bet they don't play that bad again. Give Suggs the bye week to get into better game shape and Ngata that time to let his knee heal a little. The offense won't play that bad again either. Just my opinion I could be wrong but I will eat crow if I am.
Laley23;1304125 wrote:They started too well to realistically think they will fall to .500. But I wouldnt be shocked at all at 10-6 (or .500 the rest of the way, essentially) and a 0 win playoffs.

Just not sure the Ravens WR Corps is good enough to win shootouts, which it seems like they will be in more and more this year. Ray Rice can only do so much, you need a vertical game.
I was also close! Too bad they got the Colts or I think I wouldve been spot on!

Seattle isnt getting destroyed by anyone. More likely they will destroy Atlanta then Atlanta destorying them...imo of course lol.

Defense is too good, and running game will eat away at clock. ot enough possessions for ATL to blow them out I dont think.

Blow them out, gambling talk lol

Not win by 30. Instead, win by 10 pts, thus in a 2.5 pt spread, a blowout haha

I like Atlanta by a comfortable margin tomorrow. They're a team and a franchise ready to take that next step IMO.
