Well they've played them both twice since 2000. Your theory is wrong again. I still don't know what your point is? Notre Dame can schedule its games how it wants for the most part.

They've played Penn State more than that. They played them pretty regularly in the late 80's/early 90's. Nebraska...not sure off the top of my head. In my lifetime I only remember those 2 games against Nebraska that we pointed out.

Sorry, but I can't help but think you're trying to degrade ND's schedule/scheduling in some way, shape or form. Who cares that they don't play those particular teams every year or most of the time? The teams they play yearly were listed earlier in the thread. Some of those teams have a pretty rich history and at times have been some of the top teams in the country. ND plays some very good teams and a few stinkers just about every season. You know, just like pretty much every team in the country does.

They played Tennessee recently and I believe have them coming up in the next few years. I'd think the lack of SEC teams on the schedule has more to do with SEC teams preferring to play most of their OOC games at home. They sure as hell aren't going to want to play Notre Dame in the middle of their conference schedule. Last time OSU played an SEC team in the regular season? You are beginning to look like a fool and talk in circles.

Well most schools are pussies with their scheduling, constantly looking for the easiest route to the BCS. Ohio State is about the best it gets in terms of OOC, wisely scheduling one power a season.

What he meant by "for the most part" was that a lot of BCS conference teams want a home-and-home, and Notre Dame doesn't want a 6-6 model, they want a 7-4-1 model or whatever. It's often tough to get a good balance.

My thoughts on a move are this:

1) Independence
2) Big Ten
3) ACC







4) Big 12

In the ACC they'd have rivals like Pittsburgh, Boston College, Miami (and Georgia Tech and Florida State, to lesser extents).

In the Big Ten they'd get to keep Michigan, Michigan State, and Purdue. I value these rivals more. If Pittsburgh was the 14th team, I'd favor it over independence.

Notre Dame would also benefit from the CIC, and that's nice. Also they'd probably restart wrestling and I'd love to see that happen.

Television deals will become less and less important, in my opinion. Give in twenty years and everyone will have access to every team on their TV via the internet. As it stands now, Notre Dame is quietly building their plan for an online network (perhaps a la carte) which would be able to reach their international audience. Their footprint is a bigger draw than want the BTN offers, that is a fact. They want a Longhorn Network deal, but only when cable dies and televisions watch internet channels.

I would like this schedule a lot:

	at Navy	Navy
	Michigan	at Michigan
	OOC	OOC
	OOC	Southern Cal
	at Pittsburgh	Pittsburgh
	Nebraska	at Nebraska
	BYE	BYE
	B1G Rotate	B1G Rotate
	B1G Rotate	B1G Rotate
	at Indiana	Indiana
	Michigan State	at Michigan State
	at Purdue	Purdue
	at Southern Cal	at OOC

Of course you'd also need to get the Big Ten to drop it's annual game against the Pac-12, or at least let Notre Dame play USC annually as part of that deal.

There is absolutely no relationship between having complete control over one's schedule and schools not wanting to play ND. Think about it, if capable.

Notre Dame has probably played more regular season games against the SEC in the last 15-17 years than the entire BIG 10 has. I can think of 7 quickly off hand (make that 8)

That'd be nice. Although with Meyer in the hunt, I won't feel comfortable until the kid is in South Bend wearing his uniform.

Southern Cal has gotten into the mix as well. He is visiting South Bend June 14th with a bunch of commits and a few uncommitted guys. Will be a big weekend for his recruitment.
