That thread has turned into a wreck.
I seriously have no idea what to do. Ohio State and Notre Dame fans here have shown that they are just too goddamn dumb to post normally on one anothers' threads. How in the hell do you fix full retard?

I would shut the thread down and start a new one.....with a stern "no tolerance"warning to everyone.

We need to actually start enforcing the rules. The basement is a joke and needs to be gone. There is no point in having rules if all we are going to do is put people in the basement.
It's basically giving a kid an ice cream cone while in timeout.
If they break a rule, give an infraction. If they are trolling, give them a troll point infraction. Whenever it gets to the magic number(which should be NO more than 2 IMO), give them a vacation. If they come back and do it again, permaban.

Do we flat out not allow them to cross-post in another team's thread, or just go zero tolerance in anything remotely related to trolling?
I'd just give straight up infractions, the troll points have zero value unless Justin manually relegates them to the basement.

Nah, just infract for anything and the retaliation. Shit needs straightened around in a hurry....that is why I went nuts on the obvious trolls

I'd say allow them to post, just with zero tolerance.
I mean sometimes Skyhook would make decent points in Cavs threads. But then he would just be a dumb fuck and troll.

I'd agree. Lotz is a good example in CFB too... he legitimately does like to talk about all of the teams in general, but it's 50/50 on whether he'll post normal or sneak in a snide comment to start the shitstorm.wildcats20;1092388 wrote:I'd say allow them to post, just with zero tolerance.

Exactly....when he does, infraction.
Then we need to infract the people that tear into him....sucks, but we need to clean it up some

And it needs to be done across the board. Serious Business included.

I'm going to sticky a general warning shot to the CFB (and maybe CBB?) forum, basically saying if you have nothing nice to say, return to your own teams' thread. If you choose to continue on, it'll lead to immediate infractions, repeating = bans.
I'll also reset that ND thread with a warning shot fired in the first post of the new one too

Yeah, if you guys see posts that are sketchy in there....report them so the rest of us see them. I would rather mods report them....especially since I am guilty of not reading very many threads.wildcats20;1092396 wrote:Exactly.

How is this?
dear CFB posters, GFY, kthxbai wrote:This forum has pretty much become unreadable since you all just choose to attack one another instead of have discussion. Considering it's the OFFSEASON, this is sad. Obviously there is going to, and there should be some banter and disagreements between rivals, but you all either take it too seriously or have an amazingly easy defense mechanism to trigger.
From this point forward, you can expect a more aggressive enforcement of the existing rules. Here's what is expected to keep discussions on here tolerable:
We expect you will post on the threads of other teams beside yours, as we are mostly all fans of college football in general. HOWEVER, if you are going over simply to cause trouble or make a post that is obviously meant to push the buttons of another fanbase, the post will be immediately removed, you will be thread banned, and you will receive an infraction. It's simple... if you don't have anything nice to say, just retreat back to your teams' thread and don't say it at all.
On that note, for the more sensitive posters, the mere presence of a fan of another team on your thread is NOT trolling. There is an obvious difference between general posting, lighthearted rivalry jabs, and then the crap you all pull on OSU/ND threads.
If you continue to cause problems, the infractions will result in bans, and if it would keep going, the bans will just get longer and longer.

also, I would sticky it, but lock it up. We don't need everyone telling us of how they aren't doing anything.

I know I am in the minority here but do any of us really expect it to stop? We can infract, ban, dah dah dah, however they will either leave and more people will follow because we are becoming harsh like JJ's or they will come back with a vengance! Now I don't know about you guys but I don't have the time to deal and go through these threads and infract/ban all day long. I have always said keep the HS stuff seperate and clean, the others leave it to no porn, gore, racism, sexism, stuff like that. They are grown people's forums and if they can't take the heat get out the kitchen, people need to use their ignore list, etc....or just flat out ignore posters, stop baiting trolls and read and reply to post relevant to the their thoughts. I hate banning and even infracting, as you can see I've hardly done it, but I think we need let be people be grown and if they can't deal with the a post on an internet forum, then GTFO!!
Hell does anyone think that if they are allowed to troll, etc...it won't actually be fun? Their fun comes when we get involved!

I remember when we had this discussion before the season, and most of the mods agreed with you. After this season I think you may have lost your fanbase. We can sit back and hope that one day they grow up, but after 2 years of that not working whatsoever and the thing going completely to shit, we have to at least make a damn effort. It's easy to say "man up", but no one's going to.Fab1b;1092425 wrote:I know I am in the minority here but do any of us really expect it to stop? Also, it would be just actually enforcing our existing rules that we were lazy as hell about in the past, it's not like we made anything up.

I just don't see the problem with it I guess, I mean yes there are things over the line we need to get on top of, but simple trolling, razzing one another, etc....seriously?? It's the fucking internet! God damn people take this place and forums way too seriously!
OK end rant

I also then think we need to define what trolling offenses are, I mean there are people that report post as trolling for a view from the other side, a simple raz, they don't think that person's post adds anything to the thread, etc...
I mean lets say ND just gets blown out by a team and Sleeper goes in there and says see ND sucks, well heck he is right! But that would be trolling because it is sleeper, if I said ND sucks no one would probably throw a fit because I haven't done that. That is the type of shit that kills me here! I don't get pissed when OSU loses to SEC, etc...and I have to read all about it here!
Hell I think we should infract those that report stupid ass shit????

I get sick of the reported shit...but no way would I infract them for it. I think this board just needs cleaned up a little...let people know that they can't just ruin every thread that they want to...it makes some threads unreadable. I don't even bother reading college forums because it is awful with the ND/OSU bullshit.Fab1b;1092444 wrote:I also then think we need to define what trolling offenses are, I mean there are people that report post as trolling for a view from the other side, a simple raz, they don't think that person's post adds anything to the thread, etc...

I'd rather them overreport then try to handle it themselves. The overreporting doesn't bother me in the least (unless it's sleeper trolling the mods).
on Fab1's example... lets say ND loses by 50. I think there is a big difference between going over and saying "Holy shit, did they dress the cheerleaders?" and "HURRRRRR ND SUCKS". First one comes off as lighthearted to me, second one is obviously someone with the IQ of a brick looking for a rise.
