The "dark side" is so difficult for standard tools to find, yet they provide fairly exact statistics on it. 22% real, 78% urban legend (I can make up statistics too).

The look on those hackers' faces when sleeper eventually gets into the Deep Web and tells them that they are worthless and will never amount to anything, would be priceless to see.

Just my luck I'd get on there, enter the wrong site, and then have the FBI or NSA kicking down my door for my hard drive!

A couple years ago, it wasn't too hard to find the "crazy" stuff if you knew what you were looking for. But that's when most people didn't know what TOR was, much less that the Deep Web even existed. With the recent articles and internet discussions on it, they've had to move further below the surface.

A rule of thumb, if you're "a regular guy" and can find the site, there's nothing really crazy going on there. You're sure as hell not getting linked to the deep underground stuff off the hidden wiki.

Can you use Tor on the "shallow web" to browse anonymously, like a proxy? Could be useful for illegal downloads.
