I imagine we all know people who are addicted to FB.

Does it drive you crazy when someone starts out a convo with 'someone's status update......'?

Why are people so addicted to such a thing that they cannot be away from it for more than a few min at a time? People are living in this fantasy world of FB and why? I think FB is the female version of those fucktards guys who are addicted to World of warcraft and other online gaming things...and like Dungeons and dragons.

News said that after the SB on that last play social media exploded with tweeters and fb posts. Seriously.....when you just watch a game what makes one think that the first thing they should do is post on FB?


I guess I just dont understand why people are addicted to such a thing. Some people think if they are away from it for an hour the world will end.

Do you post on here during games?

Much like this place, those are outlets for people to post their thoughts and opinions. Just because someone posts on Facebook or Twitter, doesn't mean they are addicted. I usually post once or twice a day on Facebook, and spend alot of time on Twitter getting my sports and news fix for the day. I wouldn't say I'm addicted to either media though.

I don't use FB and neither should you.

Probably.

People use Facebook regularly, or are "addicted", because they have a need for perceived connection between themselves and a group. The fact that it's not a physical, or aural, connection seems to be the issue.

Nope.

Do I have facebook? Yeah. and I log on maybe once a week, and at times I got 2-3 weeks before I log on.


Yeah, I post on here and www.themaconline.com but only do so during work when i am already on a computer and do so basically because I am bored outta my skull. When I am not at work I dont even THINK about the OC or the web to be honest with ya.

I am talking more about those people who feel the need to be on FB pretty much all day and night, and whenever something happens their first reaction is to post it on FB or see what others have to say about it on there. "On someone's status...." just makes me cringe!

Facebook allows people to tap into one a very basic human instinct, which is voyeurism. It allows people to "creep" on people and learn things that, without the book, they would have never known.

I have a sister-in-law who is constantly talking about Facebook, and she is definitely addicted. It is extremely annoying.

When im on the computer, ill leave a facebook tab open. I mean with the chat its basically like instant messenger. Just because it says im online doesnt mean im sitting there creeping on people. On my phone I might check it once an hour or something..guess im addicted.

With the commodity of having the application on your cell phones, it's easy to get on there and share your thoughts/feelings without necessarily being addicted. It's also a great tool to keep in touch with people whom (10 years ago) you may have never spoken with again. I don't see what the big deal is. That's what I use Facebook for, and as for the Twitter talk...that's a completely different beast.

Very annoying that is for sure. I can see some positive uses for it though to keep in touch with old friends and family members but those who feel the need to always talk about it and live in that reality world seems very wierd. It is like a bizarro world that is for sure. I think it starts alot of fights between people. A coworker ALWAYS is creeping on whatever dude she is banging at the time and also her exes and it is 2-3 times a week she gets into some fight with someone for what was posted, or the tone of it , on FB..

But yeah....when (my wife is guilty) someone always says "I saw on Facebook" or "I read this on Facebook"....that gets annoying.

I guess it's no worse than being addicted to Ohio Chatter.

Most of my Facebook updates start with "I read on the OC"...

WIth all the additional means of communication over the years I think we have took a step back in being social towards others. It all started with the answering machine, then voice mail, and email, and text and now with the so called social media. This summer we were at Cumberland Falls and there was a group of HS kids. The chaperone absolutely LIT into them because the group of about 15 or so was sitting around and all playing on their phones instead of enjoying what was there. She started to tell them she was going to confiscate them until some bitchy girl started throwing a fit. It was quite funny actually to see this 14-16 yr old throw a fit like a 6 yr old.

I knew people were going too far in being dependant on them when this summer when my step daughter went ape-shit when we spent a night in an area where we didnt have cell phone service. My God...ya would think the world was ending.

Another means of communication, which is probably a good thing. The down side (IMO) is a tendency toward more communication but it being far more shallow.

You just mad your wife doesn't let you on the computer at home.

When I am not at work I have a life and dont need to sit in front of a computer. Last thing I wanna do when I am not at work is mess around on the web and sit in front of a computer.

Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't bother me when people say "I saw on Facebook..." or "so-and-so posted on Facebook...."

To me, it's no different than someone saying, "I was talking to so-and-so and they said..."
