Gonna be near 60 today. Is this awesome weather because of global warming or maybe something much worse?

Earth hasn't warmed in 10-15 years, in fact it is now entering a period of global cooling.

Global warming and global cooling cycles are normal and naturally occurring thanks to the awesome power of the sun. Nothing more, nothing less.

Enjoy the 60 degree weather today...back to "normal" lower 40's by the end of the week.

Hopefully.

Eh....earth has warmed and cooled soooo many times throughout history, and pretty much 99% of the time there wasnt machinery and such to "cause" it.

If the world warms....who cares? A larger section of the world could then grow crops, a longer growing season for many places.

The bigger question in my mind, Is this all due to carbon in the atmosphere and can man do something to control it?

I read this morning that the unseasonable winter is due to La Nina - cooler water in the Pacific that pushes the jet stream further north and, for us, traps the cold Canadian air from coming down this far. Whatever it's called, it's nice.

I believe that more CO2 in the air is actually beneficial to trees and other plant life, if I'm not mistaken. Greenhouses use a higher concentration of CO2 in the air to help along plants as well, I believe. Don't see what the big worry is, the Earth hasn't warmed for over a decade, despite the alarmists. Now they are changing to global weather "change", so anything outside the norm is cause for concern. Anything to stay ahead of the pack and keep that money rolling in.

Keep those friggin' hosers out of the states at all measures, even if we gotta call in the dolphins to guard the great lakes.

If you think a 50-60 degree day in January is a sign of global warming, you are stupid.

If you think a 50-60 degree day in July is a reason to be like, "Where's your global warming now?", you are stupid.

If you ever watch your local tv weather forcast they usually have record temps for that day, highs and lows, and some of the records are from the late 1800's and early 1900's,so they had odd weather way back then.

+1. The fact that weather and climate aren't the same thing tends to confuse many people on both sides of the issue. With global warming, we're talking about rather small changes (a degree here, a degree there) over centuries. Anyone who points to a singular weather event happening somewhere in the world as evidence one way or the other is likely either a moron or someone using it for political purposes.

Weather records are usually less than research-grade in any case - in Columbus, the NWS station where the "official reading" was made was in the middle of downdown until the 50's or 60's. That's good for another 5-8 degrees just due to location - and why virtually all Columbus records for heat were set back in the 1930's.

Global warming is occuring. What we're arguing over is what's CAUSING this round. :)

Didn't the Farmers Almanac call for a mild winter this year? Honest question.

8 out of 10 times that thing is right on the money...or at least so it seems.

Agreed.

Global warming - as well as global cooling - occur. It is now and always has been caused by the sun throughout the ages...before satellites, radar, and politicians who use climate as an excuse to force wealth redistribution.

Humans give humans way too much credit when we insist that we're the cause of natural global climate cycles.

8 out of 10 times, it's right every time.

It may be 60 degrees in Ohio, but here is the other side of the story. Yesterday the temperatures in Kuwait never got above 55 degrees and the low temp the next couple of nights will be in the upper 30's. These are near record lows for this part of the Arabian Desert this time of year. It all balances out over time.
