We have been so far off track this week. This game will be one these kids remember for ever. I played in some big games in my days but the games that are the most clear in my mind and we talk about the most when "old buddies" get together are the wooster games. It is special and thankfully I never lost this game! Lol...I could not resist that one.
Go Riders!!

ARE YOU SERIOUS??? This is Orrville Wooster week!!!! I guess the game may mean less this year due to the records and over all lack of expectations but come on..... This is Orrville Wooster! Red Rider 1 you are probably right about the AAU and the lack of hate it can foster (damn the AAU and making these kids get along), what ever happened to blood making the grass grow! LOL, just kidding, but all kidding aside this game sure means something to me, always has and always will! I hope for the hardest hitting most action packed Orrville Wooster game EVER with an Orrville win! I remember the entire town being a buz for the Orrville Wooster week! Signs everywhere, people cheering, the parade, cutting down the general and throwing him on the fire, captains addressing the town.... It was sure a big deal then, if it isn't now, shame on us!!!
Go Red!
Go Red!

You should get your facts right before you start adressing this subject. This is the sixth longest running RIVALRY in Ohio. Yes Orrville has won SEVEN straight not 8 but Wooster won 6 sstraight before that. You must not of been around in the mid 80's either Wooster may not of beaten those very good Orrvile teams but they always came in with at least 7 wins if not 8. I also know Ashland was on the losing end of more than a few of those games back then. Sorry you may never have had the pleasure of playing in a game like this but i can assure you this is huge for these kids.Jmar25;1303991 wrote:I'm sorry that Wooster has never been relevant in football except for two years in the 2000's and during a small stretch in the 30's. That and Orrville always hands you your butts when you play. Especially the last 8 years. Congrats on the upcoming win though. You will beat one of the few really bad Orrville teams.
It may be one third of the population but like I said earlier... I doubt many of that population outside of Orrville really care. Wooster comes to the football game for the real show... The band. Game time doesn't start until halftime I believe that is the motto for wooster... correct?
Go BOBCATS!

Rooting for Coach Haas in his first game coaching in this rivalry, but rooting for Orrville to help Coach Haas' former team in their playoff hopes. Should be a fun game, nonetheless.

Ya. Still not a rivalry... Take away the 30's and before... Woosters winning record goes away... Pretty sad when a D1/D2 team is a rival with a D4 team and doesn't even have a winning record over the last 50-60 years. Sorry guys. Just because you've been the only two major schools in the only "urban" areas of a predominately rural area of course you are going to have a lot of games against each other. Waynedale is on year 59? Dalton 50ish? Smithville in the 50's? Norwayne 40's?scarface1;1304456 wrote:You should get your facts right before you start adressing this subject. This is the sixth longest running RIVALRY in Ohio. Iggys/Eds, McK/Mass... heck Steubenville/Mass is more of a rivalry. The records and almost every game has been competitve. I liken this game closer to a Ohio State v. Illinois. Close to a rivalry... but not really.
Good for the kids. I know they will remember this game. Everyone needs those... but lets be fair... even by definition this thing is not a rivalry

I'm still saying the Riders are the favorites after winning the last 7 in a row. To be the man, you've got to beat the man...

Dear Jmar,
Sure, you're right, it's not a rivalry anymore.
Now go away.

Here's hoping the Generals can finally come together and play as a team tonight, and not as individuals as some have throughout the season. No one player can win this game, or any game for that matter, by themselves. To the seniors, thank you for 4 (for most) years of dedication to the program, and go out and play this final game by leaving EVERYTHING on the field with no regrets. To the underclassman, tonight you will witness what this game means to your school and community. And tonight you will see just how much it means to beat the Orrville Red Riders. It's time to start a new 7-year streak....Go Woo!

In other news, I heard from a reliable source that Mike McCreary said he won't be going to the game tonight. My response to that person....he didn't show up to the last 7 either.

Gonna be a wet one, which I think plays to Orrville's favor. Curious to see how the weather affects the game.

haha.. unfortunately I don't think either of these teams this year is "the man".
This game is akin to the immovable object versus the irresistable force, except it's the defense that can't stop anyone versus the offense that can't score on anyone. Something's gotta give.
And what the heck happened to Mansfield Senior last night? wow. Talk about laying an egg.
