Momma mirg is still on a ventilator. They hope to get her off of it today. She was still heavily sedated but i guess she was awake a little while earlier. Kidney function is improving somewhat. Will know more as the day goes on.

Mirg,
What does the kidneys have to do with your mother's (seemingly) temporary amnesia? Did they do an MRI or CT scan of her head? I don't see how those two relate (albeit I'm not medical expert). Is there a possibility that she had a stroke or aneurysm as a result of her unhealthy state?

They sedate her as soon as she starts fighting due to still being on the ventilator. I still havent been able to speak with her. I only saw her while unconscious.

Lack of renal function can cause toxins to build up in the blood and a lack of red blood cell formation. The brain is the most vital organ so it is usually quickly affected by changes in the body.SnotBubbles;1070303 wrote:Mirg,

The renal function could be the cause or it could be just one of the symptoms of some larger disease.
Hoping for the best for your mom Mirg.

Prayers for your Mom. Many illnesses can affect your brain in a non-permanent way. I have a brother-in-law who was out of his mind crazy with meningitis. Once they figured out what was wrong and treated that, he came around and was eventually fine.

She is still on the ventilator and being fed through the feeding tube. She was dehydrated and accidentally took a double dose of her morphine along with having pnuemonia. Lucky she didnt die. They hope to wake her up off the propofol and ween her off the ventilator tomorrow. Appreciate all the thoughts and prayers.
