Yes. A last ditch attempt to generate interest and keep the team in Columbus?

seems like the NHL is hosting the asg in most of their weaker markets, probably in hopes of selling ticket packages that guarantee tix to the game or other events. The winter classic has has taken over as the premier NHL event and is always in a big hockey market.

With the new lease, is the threat to leave still there?

Wasn't a huge part of the losing money a result of the lease? With the new agreement they may profit?

Well to make a profit they'll have to start turning out crowds bigger than a Tuesday night high school bball game

I would think that today's All-Star Game will have very good attendance and a lot of Jacket fans will be there. This will be a great opportunity to actually witness, first hand, really talented hockey players and how that looks on the ice. Columbus needs so many things I'm not sure it is salvageable. It's a shame that the Blue Jackets aren't more competitive because I do think that the locals would support a halfway decent product but in these times of more careful scrutiny of money spent for entertainment by families, the Blue Jackets aren't really a very good value.:(

With the all star game being here, (which I'm going to try and go to the super skills event), it will give a huge boost to the local economy. A lot of Red Wings, Pens, Sabres, Blackhawks, and TML fans will make the trek and go to it.

I can't wait to get pounded with some true hockey fans.

The all-star game will sell out. All the hotels in the area will sell out. Thats big for the city.

Hopefully this lights some fire under McConnells ass so we aren't last in the league again with all of the attention on our place next year.
