Has 136 wrestlers registered. What match ups are you hoping to see?

Not on topic, but I have a question....

Is the Graham Athletic Center (which is under construction) going to be a spectator facility....Or some type of practice facility?

If it is for spectator events, any chance it will be completed for the Graham vs Blair duel?

It is not a spectator facility, it is a practice facility. As for the Graham vs. Blair duel, the AD has been looking into options.
Personally, I think the Junior High would be fine, just bring in some additional portable bleachers for the other side of the gym. The Junior High only has bleachers on one side.

Those who attended the Graham vs. St Edward (AKA-Palmer vs. Taylor) match last year, do you think the Blair vs. Graham duel will draw more or less people?

My guess is that the draw will be about the same. The high school gym worked OK for that tri-match.

That is the problem, I do not believe Graham high school has a gym right now.

Oh...then where are all the high school winter sports being held (including the preview), the Jr. High?

JH, I'm assuming. Maybe I'm wrong, I didn't think the gym was done yet?

I can't imagine attendance is too much greater. Unless of course Blair travels well. I don't think people from outside what was already going to come would make a special trip for this.

(Especially when the Cruiser Invitational finals will be going on around that time! ;) )

less just due to logistics.

It's a shame, but I guess we won't be seeing seniors Logan White and Joe Martinez wrestling this season. I still can't hardly believe it. Sure puts a big hurt on our chances at Ironman and in the Blair dual. Heck it's even going to make the Ed's dual much closer. Hard to figure, but I'm sure they've got their reasons.

Wow....just a rumor...or is it confirmed that White and the older Martinez are not wrestling?

Well...I didn't hear it from Logan, Joe, or their parents, so I guess if it ain't first hand, it's rumor. However, they would both have to have pretty good excuses for missing the first practice without telling their coach beforehand. I've got my fingers crossed that they do, but I highly doubt it.

If he really is not wrestling, I gotta admit it's not that much of a surprise. I've heard him say it's his third favorite sport. Football is #1, leading by a lot. He enjoys track more then wrestling.

I hope he spends the winter learning how to pole vault, I still think he could be a decathlete!

Of course, ya gotta be pretty crazy to do this.

I've heard that the old gym is still intact and can be used.

Interesting. During late summer (before school started) I was behind the school, but I must not of been paying close enough attention. I thought they already began tearing down part of the gym.

Everyone's weight class is now listed on the Graham website, salto linked above. Mark Meyers is 215.

The match that i would like to see is Bo Jordan vs Felipe Martinez. I have never seen Bo taken down. His counter offense is utterly amazing. Felipe sheer athletic ability and power is always fun to watch. Can we sell tickets to that match?

Ya wanna be fortunate enough to be at the barn over Christmas, when the college guys are home and get together for a workout. That could raise big bucks, if tickets were sold.

Does anyone else find it a tad strange that one of the "premier" high school wrestling programs in the nation has only 20 kids on the roster before their Fall preview? There were 26 kids introducing themselves at the meet and greet a couple weeks ago. What happened? Why can't Graham field a competitive "B" team? We've got open enrollment. Why don't more kids want to wrestle for coach Jordan?

Because of lack of interest? Wrestling is not a sport, especially in Jeff Jordan's practices, where athletes join the team just for the social aspect.

I'm not taking anything away from anyone, I'm just saying I know how intense Jeff Jordan's practices are. I've heard stories when Jim and Jeff Jordan were a part of the Graham high school teams they had "introductional" practices the first week. The friends who thought "it would be fun" to give wrestling a try, quickly were made aware of the fact wrestling isn't a fun game. They were influenced to quit the team.

Graham has a returning state placer not on the team because he does not enjoy wrestling as much as other sports. Trying to get Jeff Jordan to "go easier" on the team isn't going to happen, either.
