Luck is considered the most NFL-ready quarterback since Peyton Manning or John Elway. He’s big (6-4, 235), he’s accurate (71 percent passing this season) and he’s a winner (31-8 as a starter).

Griffin- He's really fast. Sub 50 second 400m fast. Luck is nowhere near that athletic.

Luck would be the preferred choice by most unless you're Tony Dungy.

Luck and it is not even close. I am still worried that RG3 will be Akili Smith 2.0

Completely different players. RG3 is a world class athlete with a head on his shoulders, Smith was not. There's no reason to think that RG3 doesn't have the intellect to pick up an NFL offense.

I wouldnt be surprised if both do well....but to keep from getting fired i would take luck

Luck, though I really like RG3. Luck being in an pro-style offense and doing what he did as far as getting his team in the right plays, gives him the upperhand. Also, I'm not sure I can doubt anyone that spent time under Jim Harbaugh.

I would pick Luck.


I watched him a few times and was very suprised he put up those numbers in the offense he was in. He didnt seem to have a great corp or receivers nor a wide open, throw all over the place offense like many of the spread teams.


I see him more of a lock at being a great player than III.


Question....do you think GM's will make the final determination to pick Luck because he seems like the choice that if he flops then ya kinda have your ass covered because EVERYONE thinks he is gonna be a very good QB?

Two very good options........I tihnk most believe that Luck will be very good, probably more than III. If ya pick III over Luck and he flops....man ya could get burnt by not picking the "obvious" choice.

Luck.RG3 might be a better player in the end, but Luck is the least likely to bust.

Luck. Doesnt get teams into bad plays. Can already read defenses and put up tremendous numbers in an offense with 3 TEs on the field as his WRs.

RG3 is really good, and I think will be really good. But Lucks ability to know what to run when gives him the upper hand.

slightly off topic question: all QBs have the green sticker saying they have speakers or whatever system in their helmets. how does it work? how long is it on, etc?

Its a microphone/headset/whatever you wanna call it. It shuts off at 10 or 15 seconds on the play-clock I believe.

I would assume so. But they probably can turn it off if they trust the QB.

I think that would be very difficult to do. The OC would only have 25 seconds, which would mostly be taken up by getting the play into the QB. The transmission is shut off at 15 seconds left on the play clock.

I dont quite remember.....but wasnt both of them pretty much widely recognized as QB's that wouldnt flop and neither had the leg up in being the "safe" pick if ya know what i mean.

Right now Luck is seen as the safe pick and III as possibly a little more risky. Almost like picking a stock...nothing is a sure thing, but Luck is more like that old standby that most people believe will perform well and III as the little more volitale one that may be a little more risky.



I also would pick Luck because most likely you dont need to redesign your offense as much. For RGIII to be more successful I think you need to be a little bit more unconventional.

Everyone on the Browns threads already knows my position on Griffin and while I think that Luck is going to be an outstanding QB, I'd still take RGIII and here's why:

Luck, I believe, is more "pro-ready" meaning he'll have more success earlier in his career because as mentioned he's played in a pro-style offense and was coached by Harbaugh. I think Luck is similar to when Matt Ryan came out a few years ago and I think that's the kind of career he'll end up having. Luck has a lot of the tools you'd want in a quarterback and played college ball in a pro style system.

Griffin, however, has perhaps the highest ceiling of any quarterback I can remember coming out. I can't remember who but some coach said something to the tune of if you created a player in Madden and maxed out all his stats that would be RGIII. He has an arm that is RIGHT NOW top 5 in the NFL. He has elite accuracy for a QB coming out of college. He has speed that would RIGHT NOW be top 5 for a QB in the NFL. He's articulate and seems to be a good kid off the field and a team leader. I mean the guy single handedly made Baylor football relevant. He makes plays that no other player can make in and around the pocket. We'll see 10 more Andrew Luck's before we see another prospect like RGIII, and that's why I think you take a risk on him. This guy's floor is a slightly better Aaron Brooks, and his ceiling is a faster Aaron Rodgers. I think this is a guy who can change an entire culture of a team which is why I'm hoping the Browns will take him. I think if you fast forward 10 years from now, both guys will have great careers but RGIII will be better.

I think that he will crash and burn in cleveland. I dont think the browns will be able to build a scheme or get the athletes around him to be successful. It is going to take a more wide open type of offense with alot of skill guys, and I just dont think the browns can accomplish that.

Agree to disagree then. I think he can flourish under any offense he runs.

That much speed and athleticism trumps Luck, imo.
