has it been done? is there one now? I was thinking something along the lines of 3 3 minute periods. 1 stand up, 2 in ref's position, so on and so fourth. Scoring would be the same, and there'd be teams. possibly a regional league to start, then build nationwide? for the championships have a dual meet tourney, overall standings from the season, and an individual tournament to determine the overall champ. Also have things like an MVP award, most improved, etc. This would give olympians something to do when it isn't an olympic year, college wrestlers something to aim for, as to get drafted by a pro team. It would bring a lot of publicity to the sport, and get kids more interested. Thoughts?

Real Pro Wrestling a few years ago was a good concept but it didn't take.

I don't believe it was the ad campaign so much as the off the wall channels it was on.

You can still see some of the matches on YouTube.

Real Pro Wrestling (RPW).

Why is this a basement thread?

Well it's not high school wrestling... So I didn't post it there it is not a pro sport so not there either. So I guess I just closed my eyes and picked something. That or I have the mechanical skills of Hellen Keller

However, as I understand it, you're prosposing it as a 'semi' pro sport, so it should be there (certainly not in the basement)...maybe a mod can move it?

This. Tim Dernlan from West Liberty was on one of the teams.

(edit) - If you are into MMA, I'm betting you will enjoy this video.
A 3 minute highlight vid of the Reno ToC (college division). You'll end up rewinding on some of the scrambles, asking yourself "how the eff did he do that?"

The wrestling forum is in the high school sports section, neither this nor professional "wrestling" is a high school sport.

Just saying...
