Congratulations to Hiland's Hilary Weaver on tying a single game assists records in Saturday's game with TCC.

It was reported on the Mark Longsinger's broadcast that she had 21 assists, tying the school record set in 1994 by Julie Weaver. I see it now also reported by the Times-Reporter, which I assume would represent official school statistics. http://www.timesreporter.com/sports/x1903563876/Girls-basketball-Tusky-Valley-improves-to-4-0

This ties not only a school record but also the state record, which is shared by Pickerington's Susie Cassell in addition to Julie Weaver.

Wow. 21 assists in one game, that's incredible. And as is the normal pattern, she didn't play the whole game; in fact, it's likely that she played around 21 minutes, which would come to about one assist per minute.

Yea, Lonsinger said something like "even when she doesn't score, she scores". Her season scoring average probably came down by about 10 pts, but she affected the game so much anyway

Congrats Hil.

Lonsinger's a hack. His witty little sayings bore me. I need to get back in the booth and show him how it's done.:D

Mark and I go way back to the days when Hiland made their first appearance at the state tournament with me behind the mic. He didn't like doing the girls games back then.:D

I was at the game and had no idea she had that many. I guess we are used to seeing her distribute the ball, so it didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary at the time, although I did see her passing up open shots to make an extra pass. Very special player. Joy to watch her.

Hilary had 11 points, 10 assists (a couple of really beautiful ones), and 8 rebounds - two shy of a triple-double - in Hiland's win over Strasburg last night.
