Precisely. That's the thing I have faith in this organization doing. They have the occasional down year where they either go out quick in the playoffs or even don't make it, but tend to be quick to recover. What, their worst recent stretch was missing the playoffs twice in a row with Kordell starting, right? And before that, the Malone/Brister years of the mid-late 80s.BearBoy69;1088526 wrote:Im excited, now is the time for change for our aging steelers team, so we don't have to go into a rebuilding team, instead we reload
If others want to paint any decision the team makes as a sign the sky is falling, let them. Odds are, they're conditioned to naturally believe that because of how their team has a knack for botching personnel, coaching, etc. decisions on a year-by-year basis. Steelers haven't had that problem in a long time...

The possibility of losing Mike Wallace is getting more real as the days go by.

That would mean they'd pay Wallace $9.6 million for 1 year.

@MarkKaboly_Trib: #Steelers inching closer to #CapZero, but have to get rid of $18 million more to have option to franchise Wallace. Never say never, but ...

Hillis is a Chief now so that's dead. Didn't want him anyways. I think he's overrated.

I would have taken him at the right price. I think he would be solid in Pittsburgh if he didn't carry the entire load.killer_ewok;1116985 wrote:Hillis is a Chief now so that's dead. Didn't want him anyways. I think he's overrated.
Mendenhall if f'd for a while correct? I feel we need to make some type of move at the RB position.

I'm more comfortable with Redman. Hillis wasn't that good IMO.

Healthy, he's a good power back. But in 2010, he started to wear down as the year went along as the feature back and last year was an injury-prone headcase. I'd rather stick with Redman and hope he's the answer for next year than take a flier on that.killer_ewok;1117912 wrote:I'm more comfortable with Redman. Hillis wasn't that good IMO.

Retirement. Same team his whole career and a pretty successful one at that. Emotional day. I wouldn't call anyone a bitch under those circumstances. Maybe that's just me though....

Sad to see an end of an era.
He is my all time favorite steeler on the offensive side of the ball.
Back at Georgia he was close to passing, rushing and receiving for 1000 yards....extremely versatile. Not having an ACL is why, some speculated, he fell a little bit in the draft.
He just wouldnt have looked right in any other uniform, and he will def be missed.
For him to have 1000 catches for the steelers is truly amazing. For much of his career they were a run dominated team. Even when they started to pass it more often it wasnt the west coast style where ya get a number of gimmie catches. In the last season or two you could just tell he didnt have it anymore. Many of his catches last year seemed to be the quick pop type of passes.
I am glad he retired without going anywhere else. Hines Ward was a perfect fit for steelers football. Tough, hardnosed and wasnt afraid to mixing it up downfield to help the running attack.
Mr Ward...you will be missed.

Hall of Famer?
I would think so....but with Cris Carter not in I just dont know what to think......His TD's arent way at the top, partly because he didnt have breakaway speed and for most of his career the steelers didnt get into much pass mode down at the end zone and preferred to power it in.

Hines is a lock for the HOF. It might take some years, but he will get in.
