I don't really expect anything less than that

Eh, Rivers’ team had just gotten beaten by a 15 seed. I’d be f*cking pissed, too. While Lehigh outworked Duke big time and C.J. McCullom was by far the best player on the floor last night, Duke should never, ever lose that game. The Blue Devils had five McDonald’s All-Americans and five national champions on this year’s team, as well as arguably the greatest coach of this generation. The only thing Lehigh should have been competitive in with Duke is a spelling bee. The Mountain Hawks busted Duke's ass anyway. As a fan, I'd be angry if Rivers felt any other way about it.Azubuike24;1119246 wrote:My problem is, there are many players out there who have bad reputations and who get hated on for many reasons, who would NEVER say that stuff to the media regardless of the situation. EVER. Nobody will notice. It won't get much pub. Rivers will either stay at Duke and be an absolute media darling next year or will go to the NBA.

On the bright side for Duke fans, Ryan Kelly will be available for the Blue Devils’ next game.
Yeah, "survived" is definitely an apt term lol. Rum is an incredible antibiotic.ironman02;1119677 wrote:Glad you survived, rec. I'm definitely not gonna give you a hard time, at least not until April 2nd.
Doesn't matter. There are guys out there who get a reputation of being a "thug" and would NEVER say those words on TV. Maybe it's because Austin is outspoken and has always some media attention. Maybe it's having a famous father in the NBA. Still.reclegend22;1119457 wrote:Eh, Rivers’ team had just gotten beaten by a 15 seed. I’d be f*cking pissed, too. He definitely could have toned it down, that's for certain. But, again, Duke had just lost what the college basketball world will forever view (until a 16 beats a one) as the biggest upset in NCAA history. A 15 knocking off Duke would have been an impossibility just six years ago. And 10 years ago it would have been a billion-to-one shot. Let's put it this way, for Carolina fans, last night's Blue Devil loss was Weber State on crack. And that is a scary proposition for somebody who knows way too many unforgiving Heels fans. Oh my God...Azubuike24;1119741 wrote:Doesn't matter. There are guys out there who get a reputation of being a "thug" and would NEVER say those words on TV. It's not like I'd openly want to argue against that..Azubuike24;1119772 wrote:It doesn't come close to Nova-GTown...

reclegend22;1119778 wrote:I realize that Duke overachieved this year as a No. 2. The Blue Devils were simply in reality not that good, but earned that level of ranking because of the impressive wins the team was able to garner in the regular-season. Very few teams (outside of the Super Six) are ever fortunate enough to have the kind of regular-season success that Duke had this year, with 27 victories that included wins over No. 1 seeds Michigan State and North Carolina, as well as over No. 2 seed Kansas to win the Maui Invitational.
Even though Duke truly wasn't elite this year, because it was Duke, many college basketball fans will place yesterday's loss to Lehigh above any of the previous 15 over 2 games (Santa Clara, Northern Iowa, Coppin State, Hampton, Norfolk State) as the biggest opening round upset in tournament lore.
Lets also remember that era. The talent between the great teams and the "bubble teams" was much larger. That GTown team dominated people to boot. I'm not sure what the spread was but in today's parity, it's really tough to see anything surprising anymore. The only thing left is a 16 over a 1.Ironman92;1119783 wrote:Eh....agree some, but Nova had to work their way all through the tournament to get to Georgetown....I mean....had they met in the first round it would be a huge upset....but I think even less the longer it goes.
And I am very pleased to hear you say that. It's not as if I am going to go around proclaiming such a feat. I want it to be forgotten as quickly as possible. I was just stating the type of proclamations that I know many Carolina and UK fans will utter for years to come.DeyDurkie5;1119784 wrote:blah blah blah. duke this year was average, so therefore it's not the greatest upset in tourney history. It was a **** loss by an average duke team. Don't try and justify it.
