Regardless, I doubt they would've had a better overall experience.

At least MSU tries for the whole game, no matter how bad they are getting beat. UGA has now been up double digits the last 2 games and gotten beat.

If only they wouldn't have lost 3 games, maybe they'd be playing in it. :rolleyes:vball10set;1035655 wrote:The team that should've been playing the Sugar Bowl---SPARTY!!!

Did tsun play in the B1G championship game? I believe that's what constituted MSU's 3rd loss, so both teams had identical season records, but, if memory serves....28-14WebFire;1035909 wrote:If only they wouldn't have lost 3 games, maybe they'd be playing in it.

I believe if Mich St. lost that game, BIG would have been 0-10 the last two years in New Years Day games (although today was Jan. 2).

Not really. Since it's an at-large bid, they could have invited MSU if they wanted to--and by the virtue of this score, they should have. However, since it's about $$$, it was a moot point.WebFire;1036087 wrote:Yep. Which is irrelevant to MSU playing in the Sugar Bowl.

They couldn't have invited Michigan State if they wanted to. They weren't eligible.

I rooted for MSU because of Dantonio, that's all. I've always been a fan of his.WebFire;1036194 wrote:Oh I see, root for MSU but not Michigan!

Way to go Sparty. Nothing like getting punished for making it to the Big10 title game by getting sent to the Outback Bowl. In any other year MSU would've won the Big10 outright and gone to the Rose Bowl.
Nothing like conference championship games making the regular season irrelevant while still not giving us a playoff.

I somewhat agree about the conference championship game. But then again, if you can't win it, why do you deserve to be the champion?jhay78;1036776 wrote:Way to go Sparty. It was the money and the fact that they lost 3 games, did they beat Michigan? yes but so did Iowa so do they deserve to be in the Sugar Bowl? Plus they were not ranked high enough.vball10set;1036109 wrote:Not really. This. If Meyer would have been scared away due to sanctions I would have taken Dantonio back in a heartbeat. That program was a joke before he arrived.vball10set;1036565 wrote:I rooted for MSU because of Dantonio, that's all. I've always been a fan of his.

Not saying they deserved to be champions (although they would've been in the previous 1,000 years of Big 10 play), just that they were more deserving of a BCS bid than Michigan.WebFire;1037063 wrote:I somewhat agree about the conference championship game. Why, just because they beat them? My argument is that both tsun and MSU had identical records in the regular season (10-2), with MSU having a better conference record (7-1 vs. 6-2), along with their beating tsun in their head-to-head matchup. IMO, MSU was essentially penalized for playing in the B1G title game, where their loss caused them to drop enough in the polls so as to not be eligible for a BCS bowl berth.WebFire;1037166 wrote:Did OSU deserve a BCS bid over Wisconsin?
OSU was 6-6, Wisky 10-2.
