Norv sucks as a coach, always underachieves and now can't even make the playoffs with a team that AT THE LEAST should be talented enough to win a division where 8-8 is good enough to be first. And Smith's just as bad at GM-ing as Turner is at coaching.

Just laughable on just about every level.
The most pathetic part is they fired a 14-2 coach for Norv.

I know. I mean, I can understand moving on from Marty just because they had a ton of talent and he just wasn't able to get over the hump in the playoffs. With both the Chiefs and Chargers, it seems he went out in the first game after getting a first-round bye enough to make it a trend.

But if you're looking to dump a guy who you felt underachieved in the postseason, why would you pick a guy who underachieves constantly? And then keep the guy around year after year while your team goes from 14-2 w/early exits to a complete non-factor? Pure WTF shit there.

It was reported a few days ago, maybe by Mort, that Tressel was a coach of interest for at least 2 teams.

I think I remember another team firing the same Coach under similar circumstances.

Norv must have naked pictures of someone important. This guy has to be the worst head coach to maintain a job for a prolonged period in history. If I were a Charger fan, I would riot in the street right now. As someone else pointed out, he shouldn't have gotten the job in the first place (Marty shouldn't have been fired and his stint in Washington did not indicate he could succeed as an NFL head coach).

They were talking about Norv on some show on ESPN the other day I forget which it was, but they brought up a very good point.

Norv has had far less losing seasons as a coach than Fisher, but everyone seems to think Fisher is some kind of super coach and is being courted by many many teams. While at the same time thinking Norv is incompetent. Doesnt make much sense

It would be just about impossible to have a losing season with the roster San Diego has had since he was hired. You need to look at results in terms of talent and expectations, not just what the record is. Would have been a lot different for Green Bay to go 6-10 this year than Carolina.

Fisher has a much better overall winning percentage than Norv anyway.
