yea it was confusing because nobody was saying if it was just the fourth overall pick or a fourth rounder.

Obviously they had a legitimate reason to believe someone else was trying to trade up to 3 to get Richardson.

Minnesota: So Browns what are you guys thinking
Browns: Oh we really like that Richardson guy
Minnesota: Oh yeah we like him too...we, uh, reeeeeeeaaaally like him ;)
Browns: We'll give you 4 picks for #3
Minnesota: Deal

LOL at anyone who would rather have the 4/5/7 rounds picks instead of the guarantee of having the best running back prospect in 5 years (since AP) on your team this fall.

He is the kind of runner who won't be intimidated by Pittsburgh/Baltimore, and he can be a total work horse that gives us a legimate offensive weapon that will make other teams plan around. When in the past 20 years have we had a back like that with this combination of size/speed/explosiveness?

No thanks on passing up the guarantee we get him because of some mid round picks that are a total crapshoot.

Talk about not seeing the bigger picture.

we had 13 picks in the draft...quite alright with giving up one of our extra picks that we had in the fourth, fifth and seventh rounds

I was hoping to use those picks to move up in the 2nd round instead of using them to move up 1 spot but at least they are assured of getting the guy they want

What the hell has Minnesota done w/ their HOF running back?

This team needs all the picks they can get, and they throw 3 of them right away.

What if the whole plan is to trade this pick to the Bucs to slide down to #5?

Wow, you guys are hilarious. You're mad that we gave up a 4, 5, and 7 round picks? We still have 10 picks and I GUARANTEE they aren't done dealing. That's way better than being forced to move a 2nd or 3rd, so I'm ok with it to ensure no one leap frogs us.

To me, the guarantee of Richardson (someone who will touch the ball 25+ times) is well worth the 4th, 5th, and 7th picks in a year when we have 13 picks.

This was kind of my thoughts but after finding out what they gave up I'm not as pissed.

Absolutely fine with this trade.....guarantee you get the guy you want without giving up a pick in the 1st three rounds. The Browns still have picks in those rounds anyways.

This is a great trade. I'm sure minny had a deal in place to someone else for Richardson and called the browns because they don't want to miss out on kalil or Claiborne. Those picks we're useless anyways. How many impact players do you find in those rounds? Pretty much next to 0

Agreed, I think it's a smart move to be proactive and be 100% ASSURED that they get the guy they want. Not only is Richardson a quality athlete, but he's a legitimately good kid as well who doesn't look like he will cause drama and has tremendous leadership skills. Cleveland fans should be ecstatic with this move.

Well you still need an elite QB in this league, and they weren't getting that in round 4-7.

I don't even care. Some call it panic, i call it being aggresive. Everyone bitches that we sit back and wait for stuff to happen and when they finally make the move to get the guy we all want, youre still not happy lol.

Absolutely fine with the trade. It's nice to be the team that moves up once in a while. Reports are Tampa was going to move up to 3 if we didn't.

We still have another 1st and 8 more picks.

2007
5 McDonald, Brandon DB Memphis 140th overall
7a Pittman, Chase DL LSU 213th overall
7b Steptoe, Syndric WR Arizona 234th overall

2008
4a Bell, Beau LB UNLV 104th overall (From Raiders through Cowboys)
4b Rucker, Martin TE Missouri 111th overall (From Lions through Cowboys)
7 Hall, Alex DE St. Augustine 200th overall

2009
4 Maiava, Kaluka LB USC Pick 4 (104)

2010

5 Asante, Larry SS Nebraska Pick 29 (160) (From Jets)

2011
4 Jordan Cameron (TE) USC
4 Owen Marecic (FB) Stanford
5 Buster Skrine (CB) Tennessee-Chattanooga
5 Jason Pinkston (OL) Pittsburgh
7 Eric Hagg (S/CB) Nebraska
Here are our 4/5/7 round picks the past 5 years.

These are the kind of guys you get in those rounds.

There is not one player on that list that is anywhere near the kind of player you would pass up a guarantee of TR to have. Not one, not the whole list.

1 Trent Richardson is worth more than 3 mediocre players as far as the impact he can have on the Browns.
