I'm skeptical of Weeden's numbers as they came primarily from notoriously hideous Big 12 competition (defenses) anyway...

That article missed Chris Gocong in the eagles trade. SMH, journalism at its best. Nice fail Steve Doerschuk

Dr. KnOiTaLL;1150244 wrote:Brandon Weeden - QB - Player

After speaking with NFL executives, The Sideline View's Adam Caplan gets the "sense" that the Browns will target Oklahoma State QB Brandon Weeden at No. 37 rather than No. 22 overall.

Caplan confirms Cleveland has "spent a lot of time" on Weeden, including an April 2 visit to club headquarters. There is little doubt that the Browns are interested in drafting him, but it doesn't sound like they've deemed Weeden worthy of a first-round pick. Look for the Browns to select Trent Richardson at No. 4, the best receiver available at No. 22, and perhaps Weeden at 37.

Thank goodness we're not using one of our top 2 picks at least. Close your eyes, guys, I know some of you hate any mention of his name.

Haha I read that on Friday last week. Still pretty funny. Klosterman is a pretty good writer I enjoy reading his stuff on Grantland.

Does he have nfl game speed or mountain west game speed? I could care less what his RB coach thinks he is.

If the Browns came away from this draft with T-Rich/receiver at 22/ and Weeden (anywhere) there would be a palpable sense of excitement and enthusiasm heading into this season in this city that just does not exist right now. That is worth alot, and may turn the tide on people's feelings about this regime and whether they care.

Getting a QB/Wr/RB who can start Day 1 in the draft would show a sense of urgency that most have been looking for for a while now.

I don't want Weeden. Why waste a good pick on a mediocre at best QB? I'd much rather burn a 5th or 6th rounder on a guy like Russell Wilson then waste a first or second on a similar QB.

I'm pretty much set that I want T-rich at 4 and then a WR with #22. Then with #37 either get a CB or an OL.

Assuming of course we don't trade the 4 and trade rape a team. I'd be willing to do that as well.

They showed on ESPN the 30 some QBs taken in the 1st round since 1999 and Polian graded only 10 of them a B or better (he said Bradford and the others drafted most recently are incomplete).

He basically used those numbers to state how much teams overvalue QBs in the 1st round. To be fair, he also said QBs nowadays are much more prepared for the NFL than they used to be, but my point is drafting Tannehill in the top 10 or Weeden in the 1st round would be overvaluing them.

My fear is that Tannehill slides and they take him at 22. I don't want him, period.

I hope so. If they are drafting a QB I want him to see the field immediately and I think Tannehill would have to sit at least a year.

I would agree with this. Though if we get Tannehill at #22 and he sits all year while McCoy plays himself out of a job and Tannehill comes in the following season and is a good QB for the Browns for years to come, it would be hard to say it was a bad pick.

Especially if Heckert finds playmakers in 2nd 3rd 4th rounds. That being said, I'm still not sold on Tannehill being a franchise QB.

The same sort of excitement the city was feeling when they moved up to get brady quinn?
