Ohio State OT Adams failed Combine drug test


NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that Ohio State OT Mike Adams tested positive for marijuana at the NFL Combine.

These leaks happen every year. While they sometimes don't torpedo draft stock, it's another red flag for Adams -- a player who already struggles on game tape. We wouldn't expect him to be drafted in the first round. Per La Canfora, Adams has been "upfront" with teams about the drug test, and he has already completed a counseling program. Look for Adams to be a mid-second-round pick.

I say we just go all out on trying to become the old school Oakland Raiders/bad boys. Let's just take anyone with questionable character and go Leavenworth or those fools!

Adam Schefter on sportscenter was just saying it is very unlikely the Browns use their #4 on Tannehill.

The assclown analysts are probably in the agents pocket. I used to give a shit what the media and sports media said, but with every thing televised now, plus knowing that most "analysts" never touched a football in their life, I rely on my own opinion over theirs.

I also hope, if someone on a message board in Ohio can see through the smoke, then so can an NFL GM

Smoking pot isn't dumb. Just cause it's "illegal" doesn't make it "wrong". just blindly assuming something is wrong is dumb.

I would say Richardson. It fills a position of need with a guy that has very little risk and tremendous upside. He's also a 3 down back, so he provides a receiving option out of the backfield, which is imperative in the WCO.

^^ thats fine. at the end of the college season, everybody was on blackmons jock. nothing has changed since except him running in a straight line with no pads. he can play and would come in and make an impact.


EDIT: i think they go blackmon IF kalil is off the board bc they plan on going with weeden at 37 :)

I wasn't on his jock. I've been critical of him and saying he's over rated since last season. He's Michael Crabbtree, not worth a top 15 pick IMO and not even the close to best WR in this draft.

So is speeding. I don't think you have questionable character if you speed.

Marijuana is too mainstream nowadays to be indicative of questionable character on it's own

Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State

From all accounts Justin Blackmon is being billed as an elite receiver. But Blackmon's skill set resembles more of a complementary receiver.

Blackmon has been described as a physically imposing receiver that dominates opposing corner backs. But at 6-foot-2 207 pounds, Blackmon's measurements fit the bill of the average NFL receiver. Scouts say Blackmon ran a 4.46 40-yard dash at his pro-day. However, the question I have is why didn't he run at the NFL Combine? At that time Blackmon complained of a sore hamstring. But that sore hamstring didn't prevent him from running in the receiver drills. Lastly, Blackmon played last season at reportedly 215 pounds. When he weighed in at the combine he was 207 pounds. All these things are common ways prospects with questionable top-end speed do to make them run faster times, which makes me question Blackmon's top-end speed.

Yes, Blackmon is the best receiver in this year's class. But that does not make him an elite NFL receiver and/or a top-10 pick. Blackmon's skill set suggests a mid to late first round grade. But with no other alternatives, teams have elevated Blackmon and he has benefited from a wide receiver class that is lacking that potential star.

Blackmon could develop into a very competent possession receiver, and lately in the draft there have been plenty of examples of where you can find quality possession receivers later in the draft. Such as, Vincent Jackson (2nd round ), Brandon Marshall (4th round) and Marques Colston (7th). In a normal wide receiver class Blackmon's skill set would make him the second or third receiver selected. For example, last season A.J. Green and Julio Jones were elite and were selected in the top-10. The third receiver taken was the University of Pittsburgh's Jonathan Baldwin, who was selected with the 26th pick. Blackmon should be selected in the16-32 range. But with the importance of able pass catcher in a pass happy NFL has caused Blackmon to be slightly overrated. [LEFT]

I would much rather have Dwight Jones in the 4th than Blackmon in the first.

Dwight Jones has a chance to be the 2012 NFL draft diamond in the rough. At 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, Jones is a tall angular receiver that has a penchant for catching balls at its highest point.

Jones, a former North Carolina Mr. basketball, has a quick initial burst off the line that could help him develop into a deep threat. Last season Jones led the ACC with 85 receptions and 12 touchdowns. Jones is still a little raw and may struggle at first with route running and beating NFL press man-to-man coverage. Even with that said Jones' 4.55 40-yard dash and 33 inch vertical leap illustrate the raw athletic ability he possesses. Another indicator of Jones' potential are his career numbers of 2,163 yards and 16 touchdowns. So, with a little cultivation and patience Jones could blossom into a productive NFL receiver and red-zone threat. [LEFT]
Bottom Line, WR is deep this yr and reaching for Blackmon at #4 is a complete fucking mistake. If the browns do it, it could end up causing Heckert his job.
