RG3 was a story because the Rams didn't want him...so the media hype machine was in full effect. He may turn out to be good, but I agree...no guarantee that he will be a superstar. The hype worked though...it had Iggy worked into a frenzy. Now it is time to make the right picks and solidify this team. I am not saying that QB isn't important..it is the most important position...but there are plenty of other holes on this team to fill.

I don't see it happening. I think they will get someone...just no idea who. I hate to see them dish out a ton of money for Flynn, but they may be their move.

"The price is toe-curlingly high, and a month or so ago I thought three first-rounders would have been too much. But I think the Redskins had to do it. Look around the league. Teams that get quarterback right are set for a decade. They are playoff teams, almost guaranteed, every single year. They have far fewer worries at draft time, and their offseasons are far less stressful and scrutinized. Teams that miss on quarterback are miserable, lost and confused, perpetually reaching for ill-fitting solutions and facing the same insurmountable problems year in and year out."

Substitute Cleveland for Redskins in that paragraph, and you can see why the national media is not lambasting the Skins for what they gave up.

Peter King said a GM tweeted him about the deal and said that a franchise QB is so important you almost can't pay too much for one.

Get over it. It's time to move on.

Anyway, I think the Browns are most likely to trade out of their spot, which is what I hope happens.

Mr Miyagi;1111114 wrote:The draft trade chart is forever blown out of the water. With what the Falcons did last year and what the Skins did this year, if you were ever inclined to move up it is going to really cost you....for those saying we need to get Barkley or another QB next year, you had better hope we are picking 1 or 2 next year because in order to trade down in the future 3 firsts are going to be the starting point, and that is to move 4 spots......
Ehhh, don't worry about it. These guys will tell you "no big deal if we don't get Griffin, just trade up for Barkley." What is not being taken into account is a) how MUCH will they suck? Will they "2-14 suck" and have the overall #1 or will they "5-11 suck" be drafting 8th and have to give up even MORE when they DON'T have the ammo OR b) will there be another team at the #1 slot who sucks MORE and NEEDS a QB leaving the Browns jacking off while wearing a rubber, AGAIN?

Sick of "settling" for the shitbag QB's and being the proverbial NFL 'bridesmaid" instead of the "bride."

I think this may happen if for some reason Kalil slides to 4. I can see someone wanting to jump up to get him. I am ok with a trade down, but I do not want out of the top ten.

I def get the frustration from guys like BR and Iggy, but I still think a lot can be accomplished with those first round picks. Would it be awesome to have that franchise qb....hell yeah, but we didn't.....lets see what they do with free agency and the draft. If they go through with that deal for RG3, they are stuck with free agency only and we have to overpay to get "has beens" to come here.

So what? I've seen stuff on here where people thought it was no big deal not getting the franchise QB this year and assuming that it was a forgone conclusion that if they stunk this year they could just go grab Barkley. They have plenty of "holes" on this team but the BIGGEST, GLARING hole is QB.

We're going to be watching shit football for the next 3-5+ years but god forbid they make a splash and give up any of those "precious draft picks!" Gotta stay the course! Slow & steady wins the race! By the time Heckert's drafts make them "competitive" the Steelers & Rats will have reloaded and we'll be back to "Groundhog Day, Cleveland Browns Style."

Let me clue you in, Heckert's 2011 draft looks pretty decent but 2010 was nothing to write home about. Haden was exposed a bit last year. Still don't know WHAT to think of TJ Ward. McCoy sucks, Lauvao is inconsistent as Hell and Hardesty can't stay on the field. Those "precious picks" are not a LOCK that Heckert's going to get them RIGHT.

I agree

When are things going to change? I was at the Browns first game back in 99, I can remember listening to fans conversations "give us a few years" , "all we need is a couple good draft classes" blah blah blah. Here we are 12 years later and we are sitting in the same postion.

People are so accustomed to seeing shit from this franchise that they just accept it. If a lot of them, not sure how old you are, watched them in the Sipe/Kosar eras when they were relevant, and won, they wouldn't be as accepting of this putridity.

I mean if you don't like it br, then don't be a fan of the team. I like the regime, and I like what they are doing with this team. If you don't like it, then stop being a fan. It's a pretty easy concept.

I didn't say that. I saw improvement this past year, and a lot of games that should've been won. We've got a lot of draft picks, and a competent GM. You are literally mad because we didn't give 3 first rounders and a 2nd to get a qb who no one heard of until this season? Come on..

This.

For a guy who hasn't even played one down. Gotta love the "boo hoo we have sucked for awhile, so lets get desperate and try to take short cuts to become good again" mentality from some of these fans. Might as well hope the Raiders FO takes over with that mentality.

Sorry it just doesn't work that way. Now cue some people responding with a few teams that would be considered the exception.

I'm with BR.

Nothing has changed! How much better is this team than the expansion team in 99? Sooner or later you need to take a fucking shot, the Browns havent done that and look where we are. Gonna get forced to overpay for some mediocre QB like Flynn or hope we suck bad enough next year to draft a guy like Barkley.

Wasnt there once an episode of Seinfeld where Jerry told George to do the exact opposite of everything he has ever done? Thats what this feels like. I just want to see them take a shot

Stay the course...SLOW and steady wins the race...see you in 5-7 years when this team MIGHT be competitive.
