The clippers gave a better deal to no than the lakers did. The lakers gave a bunch of expiring contracts and older players. Clippers gave up Eric gordon (when healthy is a 20 point scorer) and the minny 1 st round unprotected pick. They could draft a franchise player with that pick. Honestly it just sounds like your butt hurt that the lakers didn't get cp3. The lakers deal was a joke

Exactly...everyone knew NO would be bad this year. It's not some shocking surprise.

They're better fitted for the future than if they would have taken the Lakers deal.

Skyhook is just butthurt.

That's not the point.

Stern, as the commish, gave the guy FULL control of basketball decisions. He had NO right to step in and veto a trade that both teams agreed on.

He didn't step in as an owner. He stepped in as the commish. I can't wait for him to step in and veto other trades. Oh wait.

But FWIW, I think the Lakers are better off having the deal vetoed.

They don't lose Pau, which I think was dumb, and the LO trade sets them up in a better position to make a run at Howard.

Again, butthurt.

NO didn't have an owner, Stern hired this guy to take over bball operations, but when he noticed how AWFUL the deal was you better believe he stepped in.

Think of all the shit Stern would be taking right now

"Stern hired some guy to trade his best asset for a draft pick and an expiring contract"

A CEO of a company will hire someone to take over 100% of finances for a company, but if that guy is about to do a deal that will sink the company, you better believe the CEO will jump in.

Stern didn't step in as the owner of the team. He stepped in as the commish of the league. Something he had no business doing.

He doesn't step in when other teams make terrible trades. He didn't step in when the Lakers got Pau for a roll of TP.

The Hornets would have been a better product ON the court this year with the Lakers trade. Which after all, was the reason for vetoing the trade, "basketball reasons."

Oh and lol
The general reaction among rival executives was that Hornets general manager Dell Demps did as well as he could under the circumstances after Paul told the Hornets on Monday he would not sign a contract extension this season and instead planned to become a free agent July 1, 2012.
after the commissioner insisted for months that Hornets general manager Dell Demps and the rest of the team's front office had autonomy over basketball decisions. Sources close to the situation said Demps and teams that have pursued Paul had been assured the Hornets had the clearance to trade Paul as they saw fit.

Like I said, I am OK that it didn't actually happen because losing Pau AND LO would have been even more devastating to this team than what eventually happened.

CP3 is great, no doubt about it, but he doesn't make up for the loss of 2 key guys from the Lakers.

The Hornets didn't have an owner, so the team was, at the time, owned and operated by the NBA. Stern is the commissioner of the NBA, so it's ultimately under his control.

It's not like Stern stopped a Dan Gilbert and Danny Ferry trade from happening...he stopped a trade between a team with an owner and a team with no owner, which happened to be operated by the NBA.

I'm not surprised. It seems like every time this dumbass opens his mouth he's playing the race card. Fucking moron.

I think the hype is because he's unknown, was cut, and now ballling out, etc. Sure being Asian factors a bit, but don't believe that's the reason he's getting all this praise.

I still can't figure out why they traded Odom for nothing to the Mavs. Something still doesn't seem right about that.

Mitch must have something in the works. Plus it was a knee jerk reaction to LO saying he wanted traded.

Watching Philly/Charlotte. How could they be sooooooo lucky? Dick Bavetta and Joey Crawford are doing the game.

SMH, the NBA actually allows those two idiots to be paired together?

Also Bevetta is 72 years old. That is fucking ridiculous. How does the NBA expect that guy to call a good game at that age?

Yeah I don't know how they allow Bevetta to still ref.

Heat/Bucks about to tip off. Bucks are going for the season sweep and 4 in a row against the Heat.

Not surprised you have no clue. The Hornets got Eric Gordon( Already said he is not signing an extension with the hornets), often injured Kaman, Al Farui Aminu (who?) and Minnesota's 1st round pick in 2012.
The Laker trade would have given the Hornets Lamar Odom,Kevin Martin, Luis Scola and Houston's 1st rd pick and the lakers 1st rd pick. The Hornets would be way better than they are now and in the future with the trade owner/commish/Gm Stern made. He set that franchise back 5 years.
