And to think, at the beginning of the season, I was skeptical of him being our starting MLB.

He has been awesome and deserving of of Pro Bowl consideration.

As far as the game goes....Rats win 24-13. I think it will be close at the half, with the offense sputtering in the second half. It's easily predictable.

Completely expect to see some of the younger guys get more action this weekend. With Alex Smith & Watson on IR, expect to see a lot more of Jordan Cameron. With Norwood being out I'd expect the elusive Carlton Mitchell sighting but they did just activate another WR from the practice squad so if that guy gets more looks than Mitchell, C-Mitch is a lost cause.

Anyway, back to topic. Nice to see DQ get some recognition. I wonder if his agent will use Rice's quote to make him more expensive. I have always been a fan of DQ, they better resign him. I hope they get him some help and get another stud lber too.

Resigning him would be nice but he's not going anywhere in 2012. They will franchise him if they have to which means Phil Dawson will be dangling.

Good point. Franchise tag would be the right move to see if he can hold up another season. Do we resign Phil? Big Dawson fan, but I wouldn't be a fan of overpaying a damn kicker, that's for sure.

I know this is going against the grain right now, but make Hillis happy for 2-3 years with a short term contract, after seeing him run last week, I do believe he still has it in the tank and was just banged up and pissed off. Re-Sign DQ, he is solid if he is healthy. Finally, go into the draft with a level head. Our NEEDS right now are play maker WR's and some offensive linemen to sure up the right side of the line. No QB is going to have success when they are constantly running for their lives. Put weapons around McCoy, see if he can get the job done. If not, it's back to the quarterback carousel.

Also, for the love of all that is holy, can we hire the best strength and conditioning coach on the face of the planet? I'm sick of all the injuries....and there is no way we can have a streak of this many seasons with THIS MANY injuries.

So throwing a rookie QB into the mix is going to do us any MORE good?

McCoy suffers from the Tim Couch syndrome....after getting pummeled for a few years, you lose confidence and get gun shy. All it takes is a few good weapons, and a running game that is effective, to fix those problems.

Throwing a rookie into the hot mess we call the west coast offense is pretty much going to get the same results. At least McCoy would have a grasp on the offense a little.

Also I am not against drafting another QB, just not with our first 2 picks. Give the offense some firepower, see what happens with a full off season and OTA's. I have a feeling that with 2 more losses, we will be picking pretty high in the second round also.

Big difference between your example and what I posted. Eli Manning DOES pose a problem for opposing defenses. McCoy does not.

So you'd rather load up on weapons, PROVE that McCoy is a mediocre QB who can't get them to the playoffs only to realize that the ship has sailed on franchise QB's for a few years? Nice plan! :rolleyes:

Strike while the talent is there. In a "worst case" they keep their heads up their asses while starting McCoy and see what he has WITH weapons and they STILL have a second QB that's a stud (Brees/Rivers scenario).

I'm betting that McCoy doesn't amount to anymore than a Kyle Orton type, at best, in his career.

The point is, mccoy has looked awful in what was no offseason, the worst offense in the league, the worst offensive playmakers in the league(even worse than jacksonville), no run game and no receivers that put the "fear" in the defense. I can see both sides of the argument. The point I make is why not get playmakers to get this offense moving, and leave mccoy there. There will always be talent in the draft, no matter what the year. So i think that argument is invalid. Hell, brady was drafted in the 6th round. You don't need to draft a qb in hte first round to be sucessful, you just need a great scheme and some playmakers to get it going.

A. Don't compare Dolt McBoy to Tom Brady

B. Tell that "no offseason" shit to "true" rookies like Andy Dalton & Cam Newton. Yes, they might have more "weapons" but they LOOK like NFL QB's. McCoy has NOT in the opportunities (slow recognition, throws behind receivers, weak arm, stares down receivers, etc).

It's like some of you guys think that this is ALL to be blamed on the O-Line & WR's. Like McCoy is some kind of "blue chip/franchise QB." He's NOT.

Only in Cleveland would fans fall in love with a shitastic, noodle armed QB hoping & praying that he's "the guy" so they can have their "feel good story." I'm a realist. The guy is lacking the physical tools (height, arm strength, ability to take a beating, etc) to get this guy a Lombardi, with or without weapons. Next...

a. I'm not comparing their skills, that's just retarded. I'm saying brady was drafted in the 6th round and is now a top 3 qb of all time. It's possible to find a franchise qb that's not in the first round.

b. Steve Smith and AJ Green have something to say about that. Not to mention both of those lines have been better than ours this season. When shurmur has ran an offense in a fast paced fashion, mccoy has looked more than sreviceable. he's looked awesome(bengals first half, first drive agains the steelers)

c. I've said numerous times I am not in love with mccoy. you seem to read what you want and retain what you want to believe. I've said that if mccoy can't cut it with an offseason and improved offense/coaching, then get rid of him and get a qb. but to essentially start over at the position after 1 year, with no offseason, and much greater needs, is just counterproductive in my opinion. also, the ENTIRE OFFENSE is lacking to get a lombardi trophy. mo mass as the super bowl MVP? riiiight

So you're willing to go "all in" on McCoy when he's shown NO signs, roll the dice, and if you miss then what do you do? You do realize there isn't shit for QB's in the upcoming drafts after 2012, correct?
