I think Jones could be a very nice UDFA sign. Could he play the 3?

He signed a 3 year partially guaranteed contract, according to the reports I saw. Sounds like He was one of their targets with their 2nd round picks if he fell... They called him 10 minutes after the draft concluded.

Doubt it. He's a 4. He has decent range to about 17-18 feet. Shot 26% from 3 in college this past season, but also had a season where he shot close to 40% from 3 I believe...

Last season he WAS WVU. He carried that team offensively.

From DX scouting video on Waiters:

Lethal Scorer

Averaged 21.2 points per 40 minutes pace adjusted, good for 6th among SG's
Instant offense off the bench
Impossible to keep out of the lane
Can torch you in a variety of ways

Penetration

A bulldog going to the rim, great first step then too strong to stop from there
Scored 0.89 PPP out of the PnR
Scored 0.84 PPP out of iso's
25.8% of shots came at the rim where he converted 51.5%

Off the Dribble

Does a nice job getting into shot off the bounce
Shot 45.2% from 17 feet to the 3-point line
Made 25 of 72 attempts off the dribble and scored 0.82 PPP off the bounce
28.1% of his jump shots come off the dribble

3-point Range

Inconsistent but can catch fire from distance
Made 1.1 threes per game and shot 36.3%
60.4% of jumpers came from beyond the arc
Very good as a spot up shooter, posted a FG% of 47.5% and 1.01 PPP

Transition

Extremely quick baseline to baseline
Tough to stop with a full head of steam
Great at finishing with contact on the break
Transition made up 26.7% of his offensive plays
Converted 68.7% of his transition attempts

Strength & Athleticism

Great NBA fram at 6-4, 210 pounds
Does a good job finishing with contact
Sheds tackles when he attacks the rim
Has another gear, great burst and explosion
Solid leaper despite his height

Playmaking for Others

Undoubtedly a scorer first and foremost but he can set up his teammates as well
Ranked 3rd among SGs in the DX Top 100 in assists per 40 mins pace adjusted with 4.2
Doesn't have great court vision but his ability to break down the D opens up shots

Active Defender

Led all SGs w/ 3.0 stls per 40 mins pace adjusted
Quick and strong hands, plays the passing lanes
Never played M2M
Played little to no defense his freshman year, but greatly improved soph season
You forgot the best case comparison and worst case comparison

Best - Rodney Stuckey
Worst - Smush Parker

I think he will be better than Stuckey.

If you Google "Sharon Reed pregnant Lebron" there are several sites reporting it but most of them look like unreliable/gossip sites.

Doesn't matter, seems legit. I believe it. I was going to say I couldn't wait to see lebron's bastered play against his other two sons in the NBA, what a rivalry. But then he isn't married to Savanah... lol

From Chad Ford's chat:

Brett (Cleveland)

Rank your ROY Candidates 1-5
Chad Ford (1:24 PM)

1. Davis. 2. Waiters 3. Beal 4. Thomas Robinson 5. MKG

Jeff K (Boston)

Best backcourt going forward: Beal/Wall, Irving/Waiters, or Gordon/Rivers?
Chad Ford (1:10 PM)

1. Irving/Waiters 2. Beal/Wall 3. Gordon/Rivers

Well since Wall is trash and I also think Rivers is trash, the back court question is really a no-brainer.

What do you think Dion Waiters' ceiling is? And what player do you compare Tyler Zeller to?
[h=6]Chad Ford (1:08 PM)
[/h]

I wrote in May that Waiters had a little D-Wade in his game. Still believe that. But that's different than saying he will be Wade. I think Monta Ellis may be a more accurate comparison. I like the fit in Cleveland. Zeller is probably a back-up at the next level, but he runs the floor really well and should be a good fit in an up-tempo offense. A little surprised Cavs didn't make a stronger move toward Nic Batum ... I think he'd be a really nice fit with the rest of that team.

Waiters is a lot stronger than Ellis though. So that's a good thing in terms of durability.

Looking at highlights, Waiters is a powerful dunker too. He has some major ups.

What are some thoughts on Jeff Green? If you're the Cavs and he has a clean bill of health, would you take a chance on him? Dude is talented and can play inside and out on the perimeter...

Would fill a huge void on the team at the 3 and would allow Gee to come off the bench.

Absolutely. Batum would be better, but if the Wolves really offered upwards of $12 mil/yr that's probably too steep.

I think the Celtics really want to re-sign Green. I would be alright with it but I think he stays in Boston

Yeah, he will be in Boston again.

And if Boston is able to keep Ray Ray and get all the injured players back, they will be right there again next year challenging the Heat.

•Bob Finnan of The News-Herald: The Cavaliers have about $20 million available in salary-cap space to spend in free agency. Don't expect them to spend much of it. They'll take a frugal approach to free agency this summer, even though they have several holes to fill. The free-agent class is comparatively weak. There are few good, young stars on the market. Secondly, the Cavs want to maintain their flexibility at the trade deadline in February and next summer. This time next year, a punitive or "super" luxury tax kicks in. The tax will be assessed at different levels based on the amount that a team is over the threshold.

This year, it's a dollar-for-dollar tax. Starting next year, teams could pay $1.50 on the dollar, and up to $3.50. Experts predict teams will want to dump players — perhaps some very good ones — to stay out of that tax threshold. Teams with cap space could benefit greatly. With all that being said, the Cavs will have to fill out their roster. They need shooting from the small forward or power forward positions.

I'm completely ok with this. We don't need another Larry Hughes contract. No reason to over pay right now.
