doesnt matter if i am for it or against it (honestly i know nothing about it. cant even remember what it was about from when i first read it on here.) all i do know is, people will move on to other sites. google and wikipedia are nice, but yes, there are other sites out there that can do what those sites do. the internet did exist before google and wikipedia. hell, wikipedia is fighting to stay alive as it is right?I Wear Pants;1051715 wrote:Google and Wikipedia people will not go without.

For example, i searched for SOPA on both google and yahoo. 4 of the top 10 results were the same.

You don't understand what SOPA would do at all then. It wouldn't just be a "oh they shut down Google, that's sucks I'll use Bing instead". We're talking about both. The website shutdown thing is a taste of what could be coming if SOPA and/or PIPA are passed and so your "just use Yahoo/a different encyclopedia (which there really isn't a comparible offering that matches Wikipedia's breadth)" wouldn't really be a solution.
