Ohio State leading by double digits here at whatever point in the second half. Deshaun Thomas has made several nice passes and nice buckets. Really like how his game is coming together. Sullinger playing and looking normal as well.

I think we underestimated them first half, good second half though.

Also, Jared looked a little out of sync, but he missed 2 weeks so I'll chalk it up to that.

I'd really like to know what Sam Thompson has to do to get regualar playing time. He's good defensively, makes the right pass on the offensive end, has a nice looking jumper, and can obviously finish at the rim.

DeShaun Thomas may be the most versatile scorer in college ball this year. In the conversation at least, imo.

He can hurt you in a lot of ways that is for certain, I would like to see him take a charge, and crash the boards a little better. Hey, I didnt say versatile player lol. Take a charge? Ive been watching him play for a long time. Ive seen him take like 2 charges. It's too bad Jared couldn't play against Kansas and then sit against USC Upstate. Oh well, the Bucks were going to lose somewhere anyway so I guess that bit of pressure has been lifted and now we can concentrate on the big picture.

His scoring ability reminds me of Antawn Jamison, obviously not as good as Antawn, but his ability to shoot it from the outside and his uncanny ability around the basket are very similar.Laley23;1015391 wrote:DeShaun Thomas may be the most versatile scorer in college ball this year. Also, if Thompson continues to play well and finds himself in the rotation, its going to be very difficult for LaQ to find any playing time, more so than it already is. I can see where the Evan Turner comparisons came from about Sam Thompson. He looks comfortable shooting the midrange J, attacks the rim well and handles the ball pretty well for a guy his height. He is definitely more athletic than ET, but has a long way to go offensively. It would be interesting to see what his #'s would look like as a freshman if he was in the same position ET was (an NIT team) instead of the #2 team in the country.

That was easily Thomas' best game as a Buckeye. He did a little bit of everything and did them well. He had some very nice steals, and a couple great assists. He also showed a smoothness in going to the basket that I haven't seen from him in the past. Just a great game.
Thomas will be seeing the floor more after last night. Sibert has been struggling, so his minutes are definitely up for grabs. If Thomas can play defense even on a part with Smith Jr., he may take some of his minutes as well, because he is a much more reliable offensive threat...at this point.
His athleticism on both the block and the dunk were almost other worldly. I loved it.

I think the biggest thing holding Thompson back, is his lack of strength. He is very, very thin. Last nite, against that team, he was just flat out a better athlete and able to get away with things. Against Big Ten, I am not so sure he can consistantly. I'd like to see him get more time, no question. But "something" is obviously holding him back. Again, I think its the physicality part more than anything.
Jump shot? Come on. Smith Jr. can't throw it into the ocean. But he can defend, rebound and has the strength to guard multiple players. But Thompson has more upside. I think he is going to be an absolute stud at OSU before its all over with. He has "star" written all over him. And he is probably a 4yr player. At very least, 3yrs.
