Same thing happen In Chaels first fight with Paulo Filho. He was winning the fight easily before losing to an armbar. Chael won their 2nd fight.

how can you talk that much shit then dominate only to tap. Sonnen shoulda let himself go to sleep. Tonight showed why wrestling is the best base in mma. Great card tonight was worth a buy for sure

The best fight was that hilarious prelim they threw into the PPV... The names escape me, but it was the tall thin guy who kind of resembled Big Z and the shorter chunkier dude...

We had a good laugh in the 1st round when the taller dude was getting his face busted in... I said in between the 1st and 2nd rounds that he was just pulling his version of the rope a dope and letting the other guy wear himself out..

Then in the 2nd, the taller dude threw 4 straight bombs to knock him down and followed with some more great bombs on the ground.

Sonnen is a warrior, and don't give me any Silva had hurt ribs bullshit. Chael Sonnen kicked Silva's ass. Forget Vitor Belfort getting a shot at the title, Sonnen deserves an automatic rematch.

Sonnen showed the exact type of fighter to beat Anderson SIlva. Great wrestler, smart on the ground (for 23 minutes anyway) and aggressive, with decent hands. Problem is, outside of Sonnen, I don't see anyone at 185 that could do it. Overall very good card, gotta love when the US goes 3-2 against the Brazilians.

Silva better stay 185 cause he'd get worked by the elite guys at 205.

I have to give props to Chael & Anderson both, Chael said he was going pound a hole in his face & did the for 24 & 1/2 minutes. Also Anderson for having the heart of a champion to take a beating like that & still come out on top WOW.

Vitor at 185 will give Anderson plenty of trouble.

Sonnen sure earned my respect for his performance up until the submission. I thought it was a solid tap at first but then after watching the replay I was iffy about it. Silva at points looked disinterested. There were a few times when he was letting Sonnen land bombs and didn't even try to protect himself.

Hughes looked solid.

I was hoping Nelson would have beat Dos Santos so I could watch Lesnar throw him around.

I have to question how hard Sonnen punches because of everything he landed he never seemed to hurt Silva. He didn't cut him or even cause much swelling. I also have to say that was the slowest I have ever seen Silva look in the octagon.

I saw a stat today that had me shaking my head. Sonnen landed more strikes (289, a new record for strikes in a UFC match) on Silva in this fight than had been landed on Anderson in his first 11 UFC fights combined(208). I didn't get to watch the whole fight (had to relieve the watch after round 2), but saw the first two rounds. Sonnen earned a lot of respect from me just because he was willing to go after Anderson. I think too many people just sit back and are afraid to attack Anderson for fear of getting caught. Chael just went after him from the beginning. Hopefully we get to see a rematch of this one in the near future.

While watching it live, it seemed really weird the way the fight "kind" of ended. But that was because the ref didn't do a good job of stopping it right when he did tap. He saw it and casually tried to stop it, then backed off a bit. He needed to be more assertive and clear because it was clear as day Sonnen tapped.

As much as i was enjoying Sonnen beating the snot out of Silva, he tapped.

Even if it was an "instinctive" tap (those that train BJJ know, you tap earlier in practice than you do in a real match) and maybe he wanted to change his mind half way through. He still tapped. The ref was the idiot who didn't assertively stop the fight.

Sonnen did NOT complain about the stoppage after the fight was over.

Now Bellator files suit against the UFC:
http://mmajunkie.com/news/20229/bellator-sues-ufc-alleges-tortious-interference-of-contract-of-jonathan-brookins.mma

Bellator sues UFC, alleges "tortious interference of contract" of Jonathan Brookins
"We've been offering the fighter fights, and hindsight being 20-20, we were lied to by his management saying he was injured and couldn't accept fights," Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney today told MMAjunkie.com. "We find out afterward he was filming and fighting on 'The Ultimate Fighter' – that he made the show and was in the house."
