Charlie walked into a real shitty situation Ty left. There was a huge gap for the freshmen and sophomore classes he inherited and that ended up showing when there were like 20 upperclassmen total in 2007, and a lot of them were won over against the like of Duke and MAC schools coming out of high schoolpassword;1007981 wrote:I think ND could pull in a good recruiting class regardless of the coach, just like other big schools with a great football history and then you throw in the chance to play for coach who was successful with Belichick and the Patriots and you will have kids wanting to be part of that and maybe have a inside chance to go to the next level because of his connections.

At least they have the infrastructure to deal with someone of his magnitude. Like earthquake resistant walls, extra large toilets, etc.

3 quick thoughts
1. he wont be able to recruit there. The kansas stadium is garbage and they have no football fan base everyone always leaves after the band plays kinda like ou in the early 2000's
2. when your driving down 70 and enter kansas theres a sign that says something like one kansas farmer feeds 126 people for a year. On KU's campus they sold shirts that said one kansas farmer feeds 126 people for a year or one Mangino so im gonna have to get a charlie weis version
3. hopefully he gets in less fights with meter maids then mangino

At least Mangino wore the huge XXXXL sweats over his planet size girth instead of pulling his size 70"W pants up and over his belly like Weis does making him Front Butt Chuck!

Well, will we hear the typical, this is where I want to be, its best for my family, I don't plan on going anywhere for a LONG time, etc, etc, etc. Weis needs to learn to keep his mouth shut. Its getting old, especially the bullshit about his family. He is in it for himself, end of story.

Completely different situation. Weis has yapped about planting his family in the best place because of his daughter. Then it was the horse farm thing in Florida. Urban took a year to figure things out and get healthy. Weis hasn't figure out jackshit. His health is poor, he has a daughter with disabilities, his son coaches in Florida. He said in an article, he was set to stay in at Fla, "I am buying, not renting". He has said this many a time since his days at ND.karen lotz;1008763 wrote:that's ok for Urban though, right?

News update- Lawrence, KS
Stocks in the local tent and awning company have skyrocketed to the highest they have been in 4 years after the recent news of the hiring of Charlie Wies as the new Kansas head football coach and his front butt as the conditioning coach.

I can't stand Weis and never wanted him at Florida. Glad he is leaving. But, in his defense, things change. Searching for a life situation that is fulfilling doesn't make a person a piece of shit.centralbucksfan;1008782 wrote:Completely different situation. Can't believe I'm agreeing with Lotzy on something but Urbie took a year off for one reason...to allow his fling with the FL SID's Admn Asst to die down before his wife killed him (that was his "health issue"). He's snakey I'll admit it but realistically he was the best thing available at the time needed. He'll be Urbie to me until he does soemthing worthy of being called Urban.

I think its pretty obvious, especially after Mangino, that Kansas is fully invested in the "too big to fail" strategy:

I'm not sure how it developed that anyone thinks we're entitled to an explanation of why a public figure makes a decision regarding their life and/or career.

you don't really believe Urbie or FL would allow that to be public do you? No Link. but its 100% true and his "anxiety attacks"...wink wink... were caused by the stress from his wife finding out. Mrs. Meyer wanted out of Gainesville more than anybody.

Please. Maybe its true, maybe its not. This was the SAME EXACT rumor going around about Coach K the year he took off. IT was his wife found out about an affair, demanded he take a year off to fix their marriage, or she was going public.Tiernan;1009039 wrote:^^^

Charlie's son has already transferred to KU for spring semester. His wife and daughter are staying in Florida and Charlie will fly 'home' when he can. He says he is not taking any asst's from UF.

Charlie was spotted in South Bend today. Supposedly, he was there to talk to Dayne Crist.
