What's going on with Dayton? Over the past four games, they have soundly beaten otherwise-undefeated Minnesota and 15th ranked Alabama, but have also lost big to lowly Buffalo and undefeated Murray State. Their only other loss was in overtime to Miami-Ohio. Based on their performances against MN and AL, they have an extraordinary team. But based on their performances against Buffalo and Murray, they have nothing.

I can't imagine what's going to happen when league play starts.

All mid majors are inconstant. This in not 1950 anymore and UD will never be a consistent national power.

If Temple and Xavier can do it, why can't Dayton do it?

Having to ask the question might prove the biggest point.

Well for the past 8 years they were stuck running a fire drill as a half court offense, had a rotation more like a hockey team where no one got to play for more than 5 minutes at a time and players would steadly regress from freshman to senior year.

I still don't know how Gregory fell upward to GT.

Anyway as a Dayton alum, I see this season as classic Flyer ball. They play up and down to their competiton. Once leage play starts they will probably be slightly above .500 because they just can't help themselves with losses to GW, Rhode Island and St Bonnie.

But they haven't played up and down to their competition. Minnesota is undefeated except for their loss to Dayton and Alabama was ranked 15th in the country. Dayton blew them both out. Buffalo doesn't have anything but they beat Dayton by 29 points. It doesn't add up.

A new coach and a new style. By the time the conference schedule gets in full swing, the coaching staff and players will have figured out what works best, everyone will be on the same page, and they will be a team to lookout for.

Isn't that the definition of playing up or down to their competition?

They 'get-up' for the big games, play well and beat good teams. Then the next game they will play terrible against the teams they should beat, like Buffalo.

Well, Dayton is up again. They just beat good Mississippi and St. Louis teams. This weekend they play Temple. I wonder which Dayton team will show up?

Temple always seems to have their number, but hopefully they can keep things rolling and catch the Owls after their big win over Duke. I'm just pissed that game isn't on in the Cleveland area. Damn near impossible to catch any Flyer games around here.

Temple didn't have our number this time. We beat them on the road.

If Xavier and Temple can be national powers, why can't Dayton? Dayton is a good school academically. I know because I got my MBA from there. Trust me, that program was not a pushover. Dayton has one of the finest basketball facilities of any school in the country, and we fill it every game. I think if this coach proves himself, Dayton will be back on top.

Dayton did it again. They beat very good Mississippi, St. Louis, and Temple teams and then lost to St. Bonaventure. I don't know what to do with these guys.

I predict that Dayton will be the best team not picked for the NCAA. Oh, well, back to the NIT.

More of same. Dayton beat a good LaSalle team. Now why can't we beat the bad teams?

Will this be the year that Dayton finally wins AT Xavier? Hasn't happened for 25 years.

Looks like they got throttled at St. Joe's tonight...better hold up on that "winning at X" gig...

Of course, X gets their lunch handed to them by St. Louis tonight also.

As I said before, Dayton will be the best team in the nation not to make the NCAA. I know we have a new coach and he has a new system, but his system should be working by now. There is no excuse for us to have lost to St. B and St. J.
