This is a Duke thread. Im def not upset. Just laughing because OSU people still trying to justify their basketball program. Big difference between ACC and Big 10 is ACC is a basketball conference. Big 10 and OSU clearly a football school! Dont ever compare Duke basketball to OSU basketball there is simply no comparison.LJ;1005212 wrote:Why did you come on a Dook thread, talk **** about OSU, then get upset when people respond?

And if the ACC is such a better basketball conference, why did the Big Ten just beat the ACC in the challenge?

ACC won the challenge the first 12 years of its existence. You have no valid argument. When is the last time the Big 10 won a basketball championship? You continue to look stupid. Dont stop now. Since the last time the Big 10 won a basketball championship the ACC has won 4! Keep looking stupid you are doing a great job at it and Im really enjoying it. Please dont stop now!

Dammit im wrong its 5 titles since last Big 10 champion. Duke in 2001, 2010. Carolina in 2005, 2009. Maryland in 2002. Oh and 3 of those 5 the ACC beat the Big 10 in the National Title game. LMFAO!

So the Big Ten winning the challenge the past 3 years in a row has nothing to do with how the Big Ten is a better conference than the ACC currently?Red Rider Nation;1005332 wrote:ACC won the challenge the first 12 years of its existence. No it doesnt because in 2010 My Dukies won a title. You can keep all your ACC/Big Ten challenge wins we in the ACC have our eye on a bigger prize. You really are making yourself look STUPID! You are being laughed at

Uh, Maryland hasn't even been ranked since... oh I dunno 2006 maybe? Just because they had a solid few years does not mean they consistantly contribute to the coference's strength. The ACC is basically down to 2 really good teams and then they really drop off.Red Rider Nation;1005349 wrote:Damn now you cant even count. I just mentioned 3. I agree that the ACC isn't what it used to be, but, with Duke and North Carolina powering it, it will always be near the top. Aside from winning more national championships over the past 10 years than any other conference's teams combined -- five -- the ACC is also the only conference to have every single one of its teams reach the NCAA Tournament since 2006. It's still a top two or three conference, with the Big East and Big Ten.
The league is ripe with young coaches right now. In the last three years alone, I believe every job in the conference (aside from Duke, Carolina, FSU and Va Tech) has changed hands. I think, given time, guys like Tony Bennett at Virginia, Mike Gottfried at N.C. State, Jim Larranaga at Miami and Brad Brownell at Clemson can turn things around and perhaps become the best conference in the land again, like it was for decades.

That is why I prefaced that statement with "arugably." It was my belief that, before Mike Krzyzewski won his fourth title and surmounted Knight's wins total, Bobby Knight was the greatest coach in the history of the sport. I have my reservations about the validity of all of Wooden's titles (see Sam Gilbert), and I hold that right.Mike Plant wrote:you mean besides Coach Wooden?

Well Golly Gee Beaver I dont know do ya? WHy dont you put in your paper that someone on Ohiochatter is making outlandish statements such as if Duke ever played the College Of Wooster Duke would win 204-6! Go ahead! Maybe you and the Dork-son can chuckle about it and go drink Mimosas and think you are the 2 greatest sportswriters in history. Truth about it is though this thread was started based on Sports Illustrated the real sports writers! Something you 2 can only dream about writing for but in the meantime shouldnt you be on the College Of Wooster campus interviewing players for their next game as this is much more your speed!Mike Plant;1005378 wrote:do I know you?

Sorry about the slight thread-jack, folks - although Mr. Duke's frame of reference only goes back so far.
Doubt he remembers the pre-K Dookies with Spanarkel, Gminski and Banks (go ahead, RRN, google away)
and yeah, actually I am covering the College of Wooster tonight - nothing wrong with excellent Div. III basketball. If you knew college basketball, I wouldn't have to tell you that.

I do agree that Wooden is still right there, yes. He just loses a couple of spots due to the whole Gilbert saga, in my book. If I had to devise a top five, I'd say Krzyzewski, then Knight, Dean Smith, Wooden and Adolf Rupp.Mike Plant wrote:Yes, you do. It's a good argument, and all 3 are on the short list
