When you spend more time chasing ghosts (in this case, national perception) than enjoying your own success, um, yes, that is a pretty dark existence.

When OSU beat Michigan, it was the last game of the season for both. Alabama benefitted from having alot of season left, where other contenders could drop games and lose their shot. Had Alabama played LSU in the last game of the regular season and lost, they would not be in the title game right now.

This is a different situation than 06...so stop trying to compare the two.
I will give you that when they lost benefited Alabama greatly, but the thing this season has in common with 2006 is EVERYONE is absolutely sure who the two best teams are in college football. 2006 showed us that sometimes everyone is wrong.

You have to be consistent; if you're not going to look at who a team beat, but rather who their one loss was to...Houston should be in the discussion for the championship game along with Bama and Okie State.

Sorry, but the whole "OSU lost to Iowa freaking State!!!!" argument is awful. Somewhere along the lines you beat enough good teams to justify the 1 loss to a poor team (though a bowl eligible team).

Team A beats 10 patsies, and loses to the #1 ranked team in the country.
Team B beats 5 good teams, 5 patsies, and loses to a 6-6 team.

Who has the better resume'? My high school team could beat 10 patsies and lose to the #1 ranked team in the country.
I think your scenario is backwards.

It would clearly be team A, but neither LSU or Okie St. match that.

Everyone didn't think that or Florida wouldn't have been in the title game.

But if Alabama is truly the #2 team in the country, they could lose 6 games and since they are the #2 team in the country they should play in the title game. #seclogic

If Alabama lost 6 games...they wouldn't be the second best team.

Everyone thought there shouldn't have been a rematch, including a lot of OSU and Michigan fans. The difference this year is you have the CBS/ESPN media machine who wants to promote their own agenda shoving how great the SEC is down our throats every week of the season. The masses are ignorant enough not to care other than to regurgitate cliche opinionated bullshit like "Look at their roster!", "There's no way OKST would beat Alabama", "Alabama is clearly the #2 team in the country". Rationality is not winning here, facts are contrary to all opinions that Alabama is the 2nd best team in the country. It's a sad day in society where irrationality dominates.

Like I've said before, Florida is irrelevant. Alabama or LSU doesn't make Florida any less pathetic. The south has nothing going for it, massive poverty, hurricanes, rednecks, lackluster academics(outside of Vandy), crime, corruption, racism, etc. Did I mention that the South lost the war too? The game is a fraud much like everything in the south.

Screw records, the BCS is suppose to determine the top 2 teams in the country, and if people believe Alabama is, then their record is irrelevant. LOL you've been ruined, enjoy!

I disagree. I know you are saying this because of what happened in the bowl games. But one games doesn't define an entire season IMO.

The masses being the 59 coaches and the 100+ people who've been affiliated with the college game for decades that vote in the polls?

And yes, you've made many pointless statements as it relates to the title game conversation. Also, I do prefer the west for most things over the south, though the south is a little more convenient due to proximity.

Ruined is what happens when you use one line of logic to dispel my argument, and then I turn the same logic on you, and you explode into even more irrationality. That's ruined. Winning is the exact opposite, and if you need an example, try reading the last 6,742 posts that I've written.

They don't. Most of them don't watch the games and they toe the company line because their votes are revealed to the public. Why take the heat when you don't have to? Hopefully the nation wakes up and this backfires.

Do you honestly believe voters didn't rig the vote so there would not be a rematch? Maybe I did have B1G blinders on, but I was so sure there weren't better teams than OSU/UM and I really didn't think Florida had a chance.

I agree that one game doesn't define a season, and losing Ted Ginn at the start of the game was demoralizing not to mention there was reported dissension within the team. But 41-14 is pretty hard to argue with. Seven of that was on a kickoff return. OSU had 82 yards of offense. That's really bad.

And prior to that Michigan got their butts handed to them by USC. If Michigan had been competitive I could believe that maybe OSU just had a bad game, but they weren't and that leads me to believe that both of them were really over rated.

That's probably the best joke Sherm has ever come up with. Sad. I've always wondered how you can be a comedian but not actually be funny.

Also, for the season OSU beat the following teams

Northern Illinois 7-6
Texas 10-3
Cincinnati 8-5
Penn State 9-4
Iowa 6-7
Bowling Green 4-8
Michigan State 4-8
Indiana 5-7
Minnesota 6-7
Illinois 2-10
Northwestern 4-8
Michigan 11-2

Their combined record was 76-75 and I would say three of those teams were decent. (In retrospect)
