I am 29 and have never had them removed but am now thinking about getting them removed. My question is, who on here has had them removed and at what age? How much wisdom did you lose? I don't want to become any dumber than I already am.

Never had them. Hope this helps. Mine never developed. I'm not sure why, but I'm glad that they didn't.

Had mine done --- I was 20 or 21...Got them done by an oral surgeon, don't remember a thing. The day of the removal and the 2-3 days after are all a blur...

Mine came in with no problems.

Interesting ditbit about wisdom teeth. The reason these teeth don't fit in most peoples mouths is bc we are in the process of our jaws getting smaller (think evolution). Therefore we no longer have room for the fuckin teeth.

I had mine taken out in my early twenties. They knocked me out for the surgery and it was pretty painless. Afterwards both sides of my mouth were infected and my cheeks swelled so I looked like a chipmunk. It wasn't painful though, I just looked funny

Had my top two wisdom teeth pulled out. No problems here, dentist did not have to drill or dig.
In fact I walked 18 holes of golf with gauze in my mouth (spitting blood, drinking beer) shortly after having them removed.

Wish I would have recorded the crunch sounds while the dentist yanked them out.

Everyone put under while having teeth removed, is it because the dentist sucks or you're a wimp? Also acceptable would be wisdom teeth not sticking out of the gums well enough for the dentist to get his Vise-grips secure.

Seriously....just smoke some pot and have the dentist yank 'em out.

I did not get knocked out for my surgery. I wish I would have. my wisdom teeth on top 20 minutesmy bottom left wisdom tooth took an hour and a half they had to re apply the novacaine because I was starting to feel the pain. the bottom right of wisdom tooth took 45 minutes . the next 2 days I was sleeping thanks to the percoset. I ended up taking 5 days off from work and eating only apple sauce during that time . the dentist did say that is 30 years of experience I was the worst of wisdom tooth removal ever

Just had them taken out 2 weeks ago. I went the Novocaine route cause it was cheaper and I was glad I did. I didn't swell up or anything, just a little pain after the Novocaine wore off. It's not as big a deal as people advertise, just get them yanked out now so you won't have to worry about them when they get infected or after they mess up the rest of your teeth. I do still have the holes where the bottom ones were cut out, it's a pain in the ass keeping food out and keeping them clean.

Take it from one in the business...they come in all shapes, sizes, positions and difficulties. As evidenced above, depending on the situation, the experience of getting them removed may be mild or very difficult. Those who were smart enough to get them done when they were in their teens or early 20's probably had less difficulty post-op than those who waited till later as our healing and recuperative powers begin to drop off after age 30.

That makes sense. I had them done when I was a friggin' stud. Obviously a long time ago.

Yea..ya don't get em' pulled out just for something to do. Like mentioned above, they cause pressure on your rows of teeth making them crooked.

Luckily, my bottom two are ingrown so much they've never bothered me.....yet. If they gotta go in and dig them out.....eff' that, I'll go under. I'll probably even find someplace that still sells whippits for while suffering at home.

Got them out at age 19 or 20. It was fine the day of, actually amazing lol. But not being able to eat food for a few days sucked. I didnt get sick, but I took care of the holes and kept them clean. I did have a massive headache for a day or two after, but nothing the Vicodin couldnt fix!
