Exactly. D-Jax is one of the smallest (if not THE smallest) WRs in the league, and can't stay healthy. If you're the Philly brass and have to play with the salary cap, who are you most likely to sign to a long term contract? But from the employees perspective if you don't perform and make a complete ass out of yourself the entire season then nobody is going to treat you well at all. Do you think he has any chance of getting the kind of contract now that he wanted at the beginning of the year? His numbers are OK but not great, he's been a horrible teammate, he has a risky injury history, and he's really not great at anything except being very fast.

Honestly, from an employees standpoint, Jackson should be fired by now.

Point is, he should have been paid during the offseason/preseason for what he did on the field last year. Like S&L said, I think its (somewhat) understandable why he isnt performing on the level he did last year. And for whoever said they would take Maclin over him in a heartbeat. Maclin is probably the more well rounded WR, but is just as, if not more injury prone than DJax.

Yes, but Maclin is a deep threat, chain mover, and short route runner. He does everything well, Jackson runs deep. If he had just kept his mouth shut and played out the contract he already signed then he would have been paid at the end of the year. And now he has no bargaining power.

What's the average length of an NFL wr? When you have a good couple years you need to get paid to look out for the best of.your future...you can't afford to get paid $750000 for a year when you should be getting a couple million...now I do agree he shouldn't have ended his holdout, but you can hardly blame him for what he's doing now

Even after last year he shouldnt have demanded so much money. He was so inconsistent. Didnt he have a few games of like 2 and 3 catches?

Jackson has 5 this year with 3 catches or less and 1 DNP, and had 8 games last year with 3 catches or less with 2 DNP. Plus Fitzgeralds qbs have sucked. Not a good comparison.

Seriously, comparing what Fitzgerald has done in his career (and how he handles himself as a professional) vs. what Jackson has done is not the way to prove that D-Jax deserved big money.
I don't blame Jackson for wanting big money, but there's nobody to blame but him for that fact that he isn't going to get it now.

My point was that Fitz is considered one of the best WRs and has had his inconsistent moments this season. Im not defending Jackson's stats this year, since that is irrelevant to what we are discussing. Fitz has had Kolb most of the season, who Jackson had part of last season. And the other part was Vick, who isnt any special kind of passer himself. Anyways, when Laley said a few, I didnt realize it was half of the games last season. So yea, as of right now, not a very good comparison. Althoough, Fitz could end up with similar results still.

DeSean is in an offense that throws it 75% of the time also, and has a decent QB.
Fitz has had Skelton for 4 games lol. Plus they hand it to Beanie quite a bit.

Then he could have truly held out and not play this year. And it isn't as if he was putting up Moss/Owens/Fitzgerald numbers. Like I said, I blame him for ending his holdout..that was stupid.
But when you are in a profession where you only work maybe ten years you have to maximize your earnings while you're healthy and can produce..what happens when he breaks his neck this year and can never play again and all he has the rest of his life is his 750000 he made this year?
If these guys play til their 65, sure 750000 is a lot.. but they don't so you have to protect yourself

He's on my FF team. I've got battered woman syndrome....every week I tell myself,"This won't be like last week.....he's gonna be good this time around." And every week he kicks my ass with another shitty performance. I just keep going back to him because I couldn't bench him due to his potential to have a big week. SMH
