OSU commit wide receiver Ricquan Southward had 168 yards of total offense (96 receiving, 72 rushing) as Lakeland rolled 42-14 into the state 7A semifinals.

Miami Norland (where Drayton visited Keith Brown & Duke Johnson this week) beat Belle Glade Glades Central 29-13. Both teams were undefeated going into last night.

Dwyer needed one good drive, late in the 4th qtr to beat defending national champion St Thomas Aquinas 6-3.
Dwyer will play Manatee and 2013 QB recruit Cord Sandberg in the other 7A semifinal.

OSU QB recruit Darryl Richardson missed another game for Armwood and they missed him, having to come back to win with 3 minutes left vs Gainesville 17-14.

Daytona Beach Mainland's awesome defense forced 7 turnovers and returned a fumble and a int for scores to beat Naples (Carlos Hyde) 27-16.

Orlando paper

WCA 67 - LHP 20

They were 1 & done 2 weeks ago at South Daytona Warner Christian Academy. Marcus Dixon rushed for 217 yards and five touchdowns in the first half. Warner lost last night at Tallahassee in the 2A state semifinal. They had been to 3 state title games in a row, lost all 3. Fred Taylor's son beat them the past 2 years. His Glades Day team lost last night too. Kelvin Taylor broke Emmitt Smith's state record for career yards this year, and he is a junior.

I hope Central has improved since the Elder game, cause that wasn't the #11 team in the nation.

Central has won 26 straight. Mainland has a defense to end that streak. Both defenses have a handful of BCS recruits.

http://www.news-journalonline.com/sports/highschool/football/2011/12/09/defense-shines-on-both-teams.html

Defending Class 6A state champ Central (12-0), ranked 18th in USA Today's Super 25 national poll. Go Mainland Bucs.

2A final, NFC 69-0 using a running clock.

How is Bennie Coney doing for Plant? He is a UC verbal.

Also, Errol Clarke for Miami Central is also a UC verbal. How has he performed?

Coach Butch Jones has cleaned up in Florida the past couple seasons. In addition to these guys UC has commits from Ath Tion Green (Lake Bentley), Joey Sones (South Dade), Kenneth Bynum and EyShawn McClain (Raines) and Corey Griffin.

Coney was QB for Plant City. They won 7 but lost their last 3 without Patterson and missed the playoffs. Coney had 2300yds, 30TDs passing.
http://www.tboblogs.com/index.php/sports/comments/plant-city-sends-coney-and-patterson-off-in-style/

Plant City athletic director Traci Durrance thanked the boys for their four years and for the excitement their football skills brought to the school. She also had a special message for Coney, who resurrected his football career after his dismissal from the team during his junior season.
“I’m very proud of the way you’ve turned yourself around,’’ Durrance said. “You became a leader on the team and a leader in the hallways.’‘

Coney is enrolling early at UC and so is Daz Patterson to Ohio University.

I have not seen Errol Clarke at all, but the other Central LB's are verbal to Minn. so they must be a good high school trio.

Ti'on Green from Lake Brantley is a really good one. Is he going to play RB at UC?

Longtime Orlando resident Jack Youngblood, who captained Jefferson County's 1966 state championship team, watched from the sideline as his high school alma mater repeated that feat with a 47-13 victory over Chipley in the Class 1A championship game at the Citrus Bowl. The game was tied 7-7 at halftime.

[h=1]Bolles rides thrilling fourth quarter comeback to state title victory[/h]The Bulldogs (13-1) trailed the Tornadoes 25-12 heading into the fourth quarter. Bolles scored the game's final 21 points and held Washington (12-2) on fourth-and-goal from the Bulldogs' 5-yard line with 17 seconds to play. On Washington's final play, quarterback Treon Harris' pass was batted in the air twice before falling to the ground in the back of the end zone.[LEFT]Bolles coach Corky Rogers now stands at 10-2 in state finals with the Bulldogs. The title is Bolles' 11th, extending its state record, and its third in the last four seasons.
Perhaps none were as wild as this one.
