For example, the Panasonic VIERA TC-P50S30, which is a 50" plasma, uses $21/year at 5 hours per day.
My friends just got this on black friday and it is pretty awesome

If the TV is going to go in room with alot of light I'd go LED. But if you are looking to put a TV in a basement or a darker room you must go Plasma.

I have absolutely no issues with my plasma and it's in a room with plenty of light.

Pretty crazy. I had a Samsung 59 inch and I hated the glare that I got from sunlight in the living room.

Yah that could have been the problem. I know they have really made alot of progression on the glare issue and color burning as well. The model I am talking about was released in about 2002.
My new plasma in the basement is fucking awesome by the way best picture possible.

I wish. She turned me down! Said 3 inches was much to big for her and was better off with her husband. I took offense.

I did get 3 new cables from monoprice.com for about $16 w/ shipping. HDMI, component for old DVD player, and component for Wii. In checkout, I gave the OC some rep. I will never order cables from another place again.

I see that you already bought a TV.

I bought this TV a few months ago and it works wonderfully.

Hope this helps.

Finally someone else gets how awesome monoprice is. Can't beat them for cable prices, and the quality is great too.

They sell guitar cables too if anyone here plays and they are really nice.

Samsung and Panasonic are the best for plasma's - but check out ratings because even within their models some are substantially better than others (at least to a videophile). Then it depends on size, seems like not many plasmas below 46" any more.

Some LED's have excellent ratings, but they tend to be a bit more expensive than plasma.

Not sure about LCD. Better for bright rooms (but better plasmas have anti-glare glass, now, I believe).

Be careful ordering online - check them out on the BBB and only deal with a reputable seller. You run that risk even on Amazon - good for initially to get deliver of a model in perfect condition, but if you do have a warranty issue that's why you want a reputable dealer. Abt Electronics in Illinois has a big box store, maybe the highest $/sqft seller in the country, and I believe they do deliveries...quoted online price is often negotiable.

The first thing I thought of when reading the title of this thread was the storyline of Beavis and Butthead Do America.

Boy was I disappointed. ;)
