If a 12th team is added, will the Big Televen finally change it's name?
Couldn't go with Big 12, because that's already taken... Would have to get creative..
Like, the Buckeye Conference.

I still like Big Midwest, though, depending on who they add. If it's Pitt then I'm not so sure that works.

I think he had 3 or 4 undefeated teams not win the National Title.enigmaax wrote: It did also earn him the distinction of being the coach with the most overlooked undefeated seasons. How many times did he run the table and NOT win a national title? There's a reason his teams didn't get that national respect.
It was rare even back pre-BCS for a major name to go undefeated and not win the National Title. Let alone multiple times. But you're completely right, there's a reason for that.
They may go down with Auburn as historically the most overlooked programs in college football.

Why is it everyone rips on the the Big East, but all the schools that people want to add are from the Big East?

I don't see Mizzou leaving the B12. They have great and long-running rivalries, especially with Kansas. While moving to the B10 may help them in football, they've always been more of a basketball school anyway.
The logical move would be Notre Dame, but because of money issues, I don't see that happening.

That's surprising. They're in the Big 12 North, which is not that hard to compete in at all. Mizzou makes the Big 12 title quite a decent amount. Unless they're sick of the South beating up on them...dtdtim wrote: There has been mention (not sure where, but I heard it on Old Huddle) before that Iowa State, Nebraska and Missouri (especially Mizzou) would seriously consider what the Big 10 had to say. Missouri is unhappy in the Big XII, why I'm not sure. But I've heard that multiple times before.

I really don't think Mizzou would leave the Big 12 either but I would love to add them. One team to consider, would Iowa State come to the Big 10 and would the conference want them?

Add Rutgers and you get the NY market.

Rutgers would immediately compete with Indiana for the worst football program in the conference, and would be the worst basketball program. There is no point to adding Rutgers. It should be Notre Dame or no one. Also, if they add a 12th team I don't think they will change the name. They've been the Big Ten for some 75 years, even when they have had 11 teams the last 16 years.

Perhaps but they lamely attempt to acknowledge the eleventh team in the stupid logo:Cleveland Buck wrote: Rutgers would immediately compete with Indiana for the worst football program in the conference, and would be the worst basketball program. If the conference doesn't change their name, what's the new stupid logo going to look like?

Well...doesn't the Atlantic 10 have 14 teams?
You could just call it the BIG 10 + INDIANA and ILLINOIS (Whoever finished in last and next to last gets relegated to the "add on" spot.

Can you explain to me your reasons for putting teams in their respective divisions? I'm trying to figure it out but it's not jumping out at me.devil1197 wrote: Add either ND or Pitt imo.

I just don't see Wisconsin and Ohio State in the same division.

My reasoning is really just splitting up the competition and having 3 tough teams in each. OSU/PSU/Wisconsin and then UM/ND when both get going/Iowa. Obviously right now UM and ND aren't where they need to be but I think they will rebound here soon.
I don't buy into the East/West or North/South pairings. The Big Ten schools play each other anyways right now so I figured to split them up based on what I would like to see and what would be the most competitive divisions.

I don't think I'd make the split evenly. Rivalry games at the end of the season would mean a possibility of the conferences two top teams playing back to back games and the possibilty of a watered down champion heading into the bowl selections, thus making the conference appear worse than it is.
I don't know though, just a thought.

I don't think you absolutely have to split the teams up geographically into true East/West, North/South divisions. I think you try to make them competitive but I could see some anger out there because you can never guarantee any team will be good from year to year.

ytown, even though UM has been down recently they have been one of the best teams in the B10 since its creation. Now if UM gets back to its usual ways of solid football I have no problem in having OSU/UM possibly playing twice at the end of the year. Their two teams that are traditionally the best of the B10.
For the most part teams like OSU, PSU, Wisconsin, UM, and Iowa will be good teams along with surprise seasons from MSU/NW/Illinois/Minnesota etc.

Why not add someone from the SEC? Kentucky? Tennessee?
Open the markets in the SE.

Kentucky would be a possibility, slim to none but they do touch with Ohio and other states.Preacher wrote: Why not add someone from the SEC? Kentucky? Tennessee?

Tenneesse does not boarder a current B10 state so they would not qualify.
